UVA Football HC Tony Elliott said that Beau will enter their fall camp as the #1 QB and PITT transfer QB Eli Holstein is #2. Elliot indicated final starting QB will be decided in fall camp.

It should be interesting to see what kind of offense UVA decides to use. Pribula and Holstein are a bit different.
Before he got injured Holstein was an impressive pocket passer with some above average running skills
Pribula can throw the ball but really enjoys calling his own number.

If he finds another year of eligibility, which in the Wild, Wild West of college football these days probably is possible, my guess is that he’d probably be on his fourth team in as many years; he was born a ramblin man.
In a different timeline when Allar declares after the 2024 season, does Beau beat Oregon and is James still here?
After seeing Beau’s TD/INT stat from last year, I doubt it. It probably would have gone exactly the same.
He would've given Oregon more to think about and created some chaos with his running dimension. My guess is that PSU would've scored more points in the first three quarters of that game with him and ended up winning; again, Allar played terribly in a "big" game until the fourth quarter. Despite their record, that Oregon team was very beatable, and PSU should've beaten them regardless of who played qb.
What are your "big" games. My predicted record is 8-4 or 9-3, so I obviously don't expect us to win most if any "big" games this season. At the very least, I expect losses to USC, Michigan and Washington because USC has the best qb that PSU will play this season and the other two games are on the road.
Having been in the Bama locker room before the season, years ago - every sign and mention of the season ahead was - winning all the games, no losses.

True, that could have kept the early game a little closer perhaps. It just seemed no matter who the QB was, the boneheaded playcalling in the waning moments was ever-present throughout the Franklin era.

If Franklin successfully goes for two in regulation and PSU holds on to win against Oregon, the subsequently beats the likes of UCLA, NW, and Iowa, James is probably still here. Unless he leaves on his own for another destination after the season. Hard to predict though with the Allar injury against NW.

No big games on the schedule. Post season (conference championships and playoffs). Washington is a 4 or 5 loss team. Michigan is a 4 loss team. USC could jell, but likely a 3 loss team.
9 teams without a pulse (I didn't invent this just being consistent). 2 game regular season schedule.

The issue I have with the system is that Beau had to basically take his best offer before PSU went into the playoffs. I think he would have helped in the ND game with some ball control series. If they win that, he could have helped vs. OSU as well.

It was Beau’s choice to leave. Your point isn’t wrong, it’s just that if he wanted to stay he could have. I like to think that I would have stayed but of course I’ve never found myself in such a situation.
Agree the way the dates were set he kind of had to jump to his best opportunity at the time. NIL and the portal are managed about as poorly as it can be currently. Those thinking otherwise are fine, but I doubt many had 500k+ offers to move or a job offer for 1.5 million at 20 years of age. They are also typically fans which is short for fanatics and they expect 100% loyalty, but aren't stepping up to pay the difference either. Kid stay here for 500k or so or 1.5 million.....a fan would put out BS of how loyal they are, but in reality.....he made the right move for his future. No debt, hopefully he invests well, and has a productive life as a good human.
The older I get the more I cringe at folks wanting loyalty for things they were never once offered in their lifetime. At some point people need to get a grip and realize these kids owe it to themselves for the work they put in and their families that they can help out. In all walks of life, bind loyalty to anything is pretty stupid.
