Thanks. I’d take Fickell over Rhule and Aranda if we could get him.

if mickey beats purdue
and the offense gets lil more potent
I think it becomes alot more difficult to go for a leipod or rhule on what they "might" do.
expecially if they ask for the world

but then I could be suffering from stockhomes syndrom where 2 wins in a row look like heavan.
beat purdue

I looked back over Campbell's record a bit more because I still have a sinking feeling he is in the top 3. My main issue with him is he seems to have a ceiling. I think that is really more to do with, well, Iowa State, than anything else. The upside is that he has a lot of wins versus top 25 teams. Way more than I thought. He has had a bad run the last 2 years two years though.

Any of Lance, Rhule, Fickell, or Aranda would work out OK, I think. I have one source who says we've already had some preliminary discussions with Aranda.

His ceiling is about 8 wins a year. For Iowa State, they would be happy with that for the next 20 years. In Nebraska, they will grow impatient with him in about 4 years.

I'm not so sure, McCarney was winning almost 8 games a year, and they still got tired of him and fired him after a losing season. If Campbell has a losing season this year, they will start to get impatient.

Short of Mickey winning the remainder, aside from meatchicken, no chance TA can take him over the top 4

He was more like 7-5 or 7-6 most of the time after years of losing seasons. Dan McCarney I believe only had one season over 8 wins.

Also, under McCarney, they rarely beat any ranked teams. Usually, they got boat raced by Texas, Oklahoma, and K-State. Most of their wins came over teams with poor records.

Campbell IMO is a mediocre coach. I would be disappointed if we paid millions to buy him out and then turned around and gave him 7M for 5-7 years.

According to ESPN analyst

According to ESPN analyst Greg McElroy, Rhule isn't interested in the current college jobs, and will be doing TV work in 2023.
McElroy is guessing. One factor is that he has some buddies who will soon be out of jobs.

depends, what prospects are asking for money wise.
if they fit culturally.
and if they are in it just for a pay check.

I think mickey and bill could be here next year if they:
win enough games to get to a bowl
keep the recruiting fires burning
and show improvement
keep the players on the straight and narrow

there's certian built in advantages with mickey
he understands Nebraska football
he's somewhat young and probably won't bolt at the first chance of another job
he's making changes that are positive, and nobody complaining all day
he could be a recruiting machine, stop losing players around Nebraska and go out and get skilled players from down south
if he surrounds himself with good people pulling in the same direction, it could be a real good thing

2 games is not enough to judge, but we got some coming up that will make things more clear,
and mickey did take over frost's dumpster fire..and it was a dumpster fire.

rhule, will he ask for the moon and bolt in 3 years?
ku's coach is old and how soild will ku look in 5 weeks?
and do them 2 even want to be at Nebraska? mickey does.

now if aranda said yes, and would keep mickey ...trev would look like babe ruth rounding the bases.

I'm struggling not to boost Mickey for the permanent HC job, mostly based on other good reasons everyone has talked about (lack of HC chops, Frostophobia, etc) but the guy is just pushing all the right buttons....

Yeah, well, Frost also lit up the prior guys too, and everyone loved it, until, well, you know

The time for talk and half measures is over. Lots of contingencies in your mickey-may-just-be-the-guy sell. If rhule bolts in 3 years means he's doing something right, that works for me. Ku's coach is old? In what universe? Your focus seems to be on the belief that our next coach must be here for 10 years, or no likey. Good luck with that.

If Trev can get a guy that works for 10 years, i bet he'd like that. But I think he's much more concerned about being able to justify his hire. Mickey getting us to a bowl game, probably not bolting for a new gig in 4 years, and keeping Nebraska kids home, prolly isnt the standard Trev is operating by, at least not if he's serious about his job.

time will tell,
some say rhule just wants to drink pina colotas and live off the panthers
till penn state calls..
and the ku coach is wisconson bound, leaveing the ku cupboard bare

and yeah not going thru the coaching musical chairs circus every 3 years, is a good thing
