I'd HAMMER MSU +10 vs Auburn & Ark +3 at OM.

Bear in mind, the last time line I HAMMERED was Florida -27 at MSU in 2004.

I’m going to have to watch state play on the road in a tough environment before I bet on them. Last year they looked like a deer in headlights on the road.

We play at Auburn, otherwise I'd be all over getting +10. I'd still take State if I had to bet, but I'm scared of MSU on the road after the past two seasons.

I'd feel better about MSU v. LSU.

I think OM's defense is going to be bad enough that we should be able to blow them up at home, but hard to bet on the egg bowl.

Early on, I’m liking Florida(-7) to cover over Miami, Okie State(-15.5) to cover over Oregon State (Oregon State should be reeeaallly bad), and Memphis to cover over OM

Can't believe Florida is only a 7 point favorite over Miami. Wouldn't touch the Memphis-Mississippi game with a 10-foot pole.

Any opinions on Texas(-21) vs La Tech? Sizeable spread, but I feel like Texas should cover, especially considering that Terry Bradshaw talked a bunch of **** about Ehlinger.

Fitz's fault. Everything that went wrong last year was all on fitz. Pretty sure fitz is to blame for the liberty loss in the men's basketball tourney.

Do you have some sort of shrine built for the kid? He had heart and all, but you cant seem to let it go.

I just think it's pretty ****** to blame everything on a player, any player. Fitz was a damn good player for miss state, and it's a damn shame we run him in the ground

That comes with playing QB. Right or wrong, you're either going to get more glory or more blame than anyone on the team. If someone can't handle that, they better find another position to play. I doubt Fitz stays up at night worrying about what someone on SPS said about him.

Every year they pump up A&M and they pick A&M to beat us but they haven't beaten us in a while. Until they just beat the **** out of us I am not buying A&M.

Yeah, cause the ***** didn't cut his hair. That is why i would have suspended him to start the season.

I do feel that they are in more of an upward trajectory with Jimbo than they were previously. Sumlin rode Case Keenum and Johnny Manziel to millions and millions of dollars, he has done absolutely nothing in his head coaching career other than when he had those two guys. Jimbo did leave FSU in a mess, but he had a fantastic run prior to that, so I think he can do well at A&M for a few years at least.

We have won 4 of 5 against them, but 3 of those 4 were in Starkville and the one win in College Station was in a year they fired their head coach. It's not impossible that we beat them on the road this year, but we'll certainly be the underdog. Jimbo did a good job last year, particularly with Mond. He looked awful as a freshman but was much more polished last season.

We'll see. Most FSU fans weren't sorry to see him go and still wouldn't want him back even as bad as Taggert is looking.

I agree, but it doesn't make it any less true that his inability to run the offense against good defenses crippled us. With that said, Joe is to blame for not seeing it coming. He put it on Fitz and Fitz wasn't ready to handle it. Joe was caught flat footed on that, which remains the most concerning thing to me going forward.

I also think the Getsy experiment was a failure. If we're going to run Joe's offense and he's going to call plays, he should have been the one teaching it, not Getsy. I'm glad that has has been remedied and I think it's a underrated point going into this year.

Back to Fitz, I'll remember him for being a tough SOB who set the QB rushing record in the SEC and owned the rebels. Dan Mullen leaving hurt him more than anyone. Had he stayed another year I think Fitz's legacy would be completely different for many of our fans.

By the end of the year, they at least hung with LSU. Don't win without a blown call, but I'm not sure we're hanging with LSU even at the end of the year, even if we're at home.

So they were improving all year and we...maybe improved slightly? Hard to say because of the way our schedule played out.

Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t think anyone blames Fitz specifically. Moreso, the blame lies in the mismatch in Fitz’s skillset and Moorhead’s offense. Fitz was/is a great player and great athlete, but his skills are suited for playing QB in probably less than 5% of the offenses run in college football these days. The Mullen / Meyer offenses or like a triple option scheme are really the only ones where he could succeed. It just so happened that he was in one of those for 3 years and then he got in a situation where he was the square peg. But, he was still a good enough athlete for us to put up some points against all the average defenses and a couple of the good defenses (Auburn, Iowa) that we faced last year.

And also, its not like he just set the world on fire under Mullen either. We finished 41st in total offense in 2017 with Mullen at the helm and all his players. Then Mullen left and was able to still generate the #43 total offense in 2018 at UF with Felipe 17ing Franks and a bunch of no talent scrubs who were so bad that they got the previous “offensive guru” fired halfway through his 3rd year after he won 2 division titles.

I’m not discounting 10 and 3

But LSU wasn’t overly impressive last year.

i wouldn’t say they won any big games except Georgia. You could argue UCF but they are who we knew they were.

lost to Florida, aTm and of course Bama (weren’t competitive)

What’s crazy about Fitz is that he is inarguably the 2nd best QB stats-wise that has ever worn the MSU Jersey. However, his legacy in the eyes of most will always be his senior season where an inept offense limited us to 8 wins.

I don’t think that many would argue that he was a square peg when it came to running Joe’s offense, but I do agree with msstate7 in that it’s ****** how so many of our fans blame him for everything last season. Fitz was just one of multiple issues that led to our problems on offense last year, and even if he was the primary culprit, I can’t get past the fact that he was getting asked to do a lot of things that were nowhere near his wheelhouse

Yet we managed basically zero offense and three points against LSU.

A&M looked awful against some pretty bad competition (beat Ark by 7, UM by 14, USCe by 3), and lost @Auburn in Nov. by 4, but they still hung within 2 of Clemson, at least scored 23 @Bama, beat UK, and beat LSU, and then embarrassed NC St in a bowl game. I think the flashes against good competition are a good sign for them and a reason for them to feel optimistic this year. Another year of good coaching (if you believe Jimbo is a good coach) can turn those flashes into the norm.
