Some concerns

After the Colorado game, I think there's a lot more positive things to look forward to than negative. However I do have some concerns about the season moving forward and how Frost responds to adversity.

Penalties, drops, mistakes, etc. have been hashed out already, but I thought our tackling was God awful yesterday. Way too many times we had an opportunity to bring a guy down, but he escapes and gets more yards down the field. UCF had a lot of problems with this as well at times with Chinander's defense. Riley's defenses were out of position a lot, but when we were in position we actually tackled very well. Against Colorado, we had good position on the guy but just missed the tackle way too many times.

Our safeties and corners have come full circle since last year. Our corners actually looked pretty decent but our safeties looked bad against CU. Our safety play needs to improve drastically if we're going to have a chance at a decent season this year.

Frost has been getting baptized by fire the past few weeks. He's a very confident guy but sometimes those type of guys have trouble learning from mistakes. I hope he's learning a lot from his mistakes and will respond in the right way. Sometimes the best decision for the team goes against your own personal beliefs, and that's a hard lesson to learn. Going undefeated in only his second season as head coach might not have been the best thing to happen in terms of learning the hard lessons needed and bumps in the road in leading a blue blood program back to prominence.

I also think he needs to start forming his own identity more and continuing to move away from Chip Kelly. The organization of our practices, the offensive identity we have, strength and conditiong, recruiting, etc. doesn't and probably shouldn't look like what he was doing at Oregon or UCF, despite the success he had there. He needs to, and I think he will, form a new identity that works for Nebraska and will have a lot of success here.

Good luck with all that. I'm sure SF is pretty a pretty good coach. I'll trust his judgement until he gives me a reason not too.

It's funny how some people can see the same game and see it totally different than someone else.

This isn't a slam either. I just didn't really see the game Saturday or some of the Riley things the same way as u did

I think Frost is a very good coach too. But he's not a great coach yet. If he continues to learn from his mistakes, I think he can become a great coach and his name will be right up there with Saban and Meyer. Frost definitely has the potential to be a great coach. What I was trying to do with my OP was discuss some of the things Frost could improve and take that next step as a coach. Because even Saban doesn't do everything perfectly. There's lots of things Saban could improve too.

I was also trying to add something different to the discussion than rehash the same old thing about penalties, mistakes, etc. Yeah we need to work on those and I think they're going to improve throughout the season. The overall tone of the OP was not meant to be negative. I saw a lot of positive things from the Colorado game and I think we'll continue to see things improving as the season goes on.
