The US men’s National team hosts Jamaica at 6:30 tonight at Austin.

The standings:

As you can see, the United States is third and has the last automatic qualification spot.
Jamaica is currently in last place in the Octagon— they’ve lost to Panama at home (by three goals) as well as at Mexico (only one goal). They had a 1-1 draw at Costa Rica in their last match.

The US drew at El Salvador in their first game as well as at Nashville against Canada before salvaging their September matches with a 4-1 win over Honduras where Ricardo Pepi said Hola!

The US needs a home win.

Especially against Jamaica.

Anything other than earning three points will be extremely disappointing.

Other CONCACAF WCQ matches today:
5th place Costa Rica is at 6th place Honduras
4th place Panama (tied in points with the US & Canada) is at 7th place El Salvador
And 2nd place Canada will travel to the friendly confines of Estadio Azteca to face first place Mexico.

As much as a part of me loves chaos and wants Canada to win, let’s root for wins by Mexico and the USMNT and for Canada and Panama to stumble.

We're a bit shorthanded, but Jamaica is only dressing 20 players, 3 short of the 23 allowed. Mikail Antonio is staying in England, so that's a very dangerous player they won't have. If USA doesn't win this by at least 2 goals, there's a big problem.

Yeah, and we're so shorthanded that McKennie who in a perfect world would be on the sidelines this month is starting tonight.

It's not just what he did last month. He has a pattern of those types of things both at the national team and with his club team. He's a very talented player, but he's about run himself out of Juventus. If we had Pulisic and Reyna, I'm sure he'd be on the bench tonight too. But Lonesome is right, we can't afford not to qualify.

People that were panicking after our draw with Canada I don’t think have paid attention to Canada recently. They’re playing very well. In fairness that was after the draw with El Salvador, which was a pretty dreadful performance, but Canada is good. I expect them to finish top 3.

Agreed.

The panic wasn’t because ‘Canada? CANADA???’ as they’ve got a good team— we just wanted three points at home considering everything.

Canada stealing away points at US & Mexico this early definitely gives them a huge advantage to finish in the Top 3.

With the talent on our team, 3 points from Canada at home should have been a given. Yes, Canada is good, and I expected them to finish in the top 3 from the beginning. And Davies may be the best player in the confederation. But they don't have anywhere near the depth of talent the USA does. The potential is there for this USA team to make the quarterfinals or maybe even the semis of the 2026 World Cup at home.
