And yet, we're winning games by 30 early in the season and all some "fans" on here cared about was Wagner not playing as well as Dillingham.

I agree it's a freaking circus on here, and I will always call out fake fans who resort to bashing our players instead of celebrating our team.

They had their moment to whine and complain, and now it's time for them to shut the hell up and, in your words, "time to enjoy".
No, fans cared that Wagner's selfish play is the reason we lost to KU.

Relax there Tampacat. Idk anyone who was concerned about Wagner except for his KU performance. You make him sound like lost cause wheeler.

You must have not been on this board then the first 3 games of the season.

The revisionist history by some on here is something else.

He was getting HAMMERED. Half of the threads on the first page were about him and how much he stinks and he shouldn't be playing.

Completely revisionist history if that is what you think.

I still think for a lot of these guys, college ball is humbling. Everyone, on every team, was likely a star in high-school. There are no scrubs in college and our freshman experience that, real quick.

DJ just needed to remember he's more than worthy of playing at this level, and dominating it. But sometimes it takes a few games to find that confidence. It's not always there day1 for everyone.

That smile of his, midway through the 2nd half, told me he remembered why he was a top5 recruit.. that "oh wait, I'm really good" look.

I loved it- I saw the same smile you did. And you know what? I saw Rob Dillingham jumping up and down on the sideline just as happy for Wagner.

LOVE IT.

Was Wagner playing well in those games?

Does it qualify as bashing if you question the minutes based on the metrics? DJ has played very well for three straight halves. I’ll be more excited when he does it versus a team with a pulse. But he’s been good recently, and the Cats need it to be elite. Also wouldn’t hurt to get a rim protector back. I think all four guards need to be great. Think Edwards, Thiero, Mitchell, and one of the 7 footers need to handle the lions share of the 4/5 mins. This current team is one piece away from being really, really good.

He played about as a complete game tonight as would be expected of him. My only concern with the whole team is letting teams put up over 70 pts. A true center should cut this number way down though.

Just wait until Bradshaw starts playing. Then all the people that said
"Rob wont step foot on campus"
"DJ sucks, he needs to be benched"
"Bradshaw wont play a second"

will have to find something else to complain about. Love this team and Cal deserves the credit for putting it together.

Got it- so you don't call out anyone for bashing Wagner (I checked your post history), but you sprint here to bash someone for standing up for him and bring the whole "heroes and villains" crap.

You'll be on here bashing Wagner again the next mediocre game he has, and trying to pretend to be non-partisan when he plays well. The true mark of a good fan in your eyes I would imagine.
lol. I don’t think you checked my post history closely enough. I was the number 1 whipping boy for Wagner a few days ago. I was arguing that he should NOT be taken out of the starting lineup as so many wanted. I said it would hurt his progression and confidence and do more harm than good.

So why don’t you go back through my history again and find where I have ever bashed DJ or any of the guys on this team. Then come back here and apologize son.

Tonight?

Dozens of threads bashing the kid after slower games, and none of you lining up to praise him when he plays well.

28 points tonight after 22 points against St. Joes.

Like I have been saying, WE NEED ALL 5 GUARDS TO BREAK THROUGH in order to get where we want to get to, yet some of you were almost celebrating his early struggles.

And now those "fans" are nice and quiet after these last 2 games.

GREAT to see all 5 guys play well, GREAT to see Wagner celebrating Dillingham's successes and vice versa, and GREAT to see this team beginning to click.

Excited where we go from here!

He played well, and I'm happy to see that. But I already said people like YOU would be herp-derping after we beat lowly Marshall, predicted to be seventh out of EIGHT in their own conference, and that the wiser thing would be to wait until the Miami game to get a true assessment of Wagner's development. You're as predictable as the sun coming up in the east and about 1 millionth as bright. Nevertheless, it's good to see Wagner showing more confidence.

This board is such a drama sideshow clown act. The freaking conspiracy theories and opinions are priceless.

Cals recruiting dipped. He missed on Cade...whiffed on Askew (so did analysts), Boston was a bust. He tried to right the ship with transfers who had no ceiling and he failed. End of story.

Now we are back to normal. Time to enjoy.
Sums up the last five or so years quite well. In my opinion all of the recent narratives are overblown, it’s all come down to recruiting and talent. We have the horses now for the first time since probably the Fox and Monk team.

These players are not student athletes. They are hired guns making sh*tloads of cash. Should really be considered professional athletes. So they are fair game.
Some fans act like UK is a local Boys and Girls Club team of kids who you can only say positive things about their play. When they play like crap, we are supposed to give them a juice box and a big hug while telling them that everything will be ok. Their juice boxes are the salaries they receive whether they play well or not. If they can accept those checks, they better get used to accepting the criticism when they obviously play selfishly.

Only thing I heard was jay Williams say he should transfer to UL. I have seen and heard nothing but uk fans cheering him on to reach potential. It all sounds made up to me.

I'll admit it. I'm happy as a pig in $#!+ when they don't give me anything realistic to complain about.

There were never any Wagner bashers, but there are lots of selfish play bashers and they will return if selfish play returns.
He's not selfish. That's just not true. He has the second most assists on the team for the season at 17. Tied with Mitchell. Behind Rob's 23. Ahead of Reed and Reeve's 15 and 11 respectively.

You can call it whatever you want; however, prior to the last 3 halves of basketball, Wagner was taking shots that he should have been passing on for hotter shooters. His shot selection is one of the main reasons we lost the KU game.

DJ played a hell of a game tonight, played pretty well last game too. He also played rather poor in the games that warranted criticism, not so much against him as a player but moreso against Cal for the continuous clock he was getting while other players who were outperforming sat. Not sure why that’s a hard concept to understand. This post doesn’t really make a lot of sense but not much on here does these days.

You cannot be selfish and have as many assists as he does. Just as simple as that.

And a freshman screwed up in his first major college game?

You don't say.

SLOWER GAMES!! Lol. They weren't slow games. He played more than fast enough. The problem is they were selfish games.

Maybe you like hero ball better. Selfish/hero ball or whatever you want to call it, taking those critical shots during the game when he knew he had a snowball's chance in hell of making the shot was selfish play. The play at the end of regulation play during the St. Josph game when Reeves was open is one of many examples of selfish play.

One game. And he's not the only one that played hero ball during Kansas. Reed did. Dilly did. Almost like freshman trying to do too much.

And SHOCKER. They've gotten better. Wild I know.

I like winning. And by goodness, that's what we're doing. On to Tuesday.
