...how will the military choose to divide (or more just end up)?

The next civil war isn’t going to be geographically clear-cut and the question is if military leaders will stay loyal to the President (Constitution) or will they find loopholes to justify a rebellion ?

Would states pick sides or would most also have their own issues gaining control of their National Guard units and the federal reserve units in their boundaries ?

While it’s tough to take nuclear weapons control out of the equation let’s just assume both sides had enough to deter the other from using them.... ...even though it would be near impossible to not bomb their own supporters anyway.

The PEOPLE should remain loyal to Congress, not the President......you have that loyalty mixed up with a dictatorship......[winking]

The military took an oath to “defend the Constitution (not the President), against all enemies, both foreign and domestic...”

Yes...loyal to congress too. ....and the Supreme Court.

It’s almost like we have a system of checks and balances. ...but some are really pissed that they’re not getting their way using that wonderful system.

The President is hardly an ‘enemy’ just because you don’t like his opinions. ...anyway... ...those are the loopholes people would use to justify a rebellion. Maybe you’re even correct...not really the question asked though....

For point of reference I’d appreciate if current military members or vets noted it while participating since they have more insight about military traditions and structure.

Go refresh up on your history and government knowledge.......Congress was created as the larger body, closest to the people. The office of the president and the Supreme Court are both inferior when it comes to the PEOPLE of the United States........

You’re really getting sidetracked. ...and exposing that you don’t really believe in the checks and balances provided by our constitution. You can ramble on offtopic if you’d like...

So what if there is a civil war because people don’t support congress (maybe even started and endorsed by a president).... ...how does the military react? That’s the question.

The Military Officer Oath of Office

Title 5 USC: I, (stated name )do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.”

I don’t think this is a realistic scenario to be honest. It’s funny though reading through this thread. The board reds are all talking like it’s Trump yet the only tangible example at present that this could possible occur is with a state talking about exiting (CalExit). Then we have the ANTIFA which are labeled as domestic terrorists.

Leftists lacking self awareness. So, Tuesday.

Thx.

...but they’re just words. People (me too) will manipulate and justify choices and sincerely think they’re still keeping their pledge.

Again...off the original intent of this thread but maybe it’s branched in a more interesting direction....

It’s amazing how people unashamedly display their ignorance and then double down on it and then claim they served in the military when they don’t even understand the oath.

Lol, I've read these hillbilly militia military wannabes say that when their revolt happens that the Military will be on their side, they obviously didn't serve and have no clue how diverse our military is. I bet our Muslim military members just love seeing their religion singled out while they serve to protect the holy roller racists in Trumps corner. All our Hispanic and Puerto Rican soldiers, airmen and sailors are probably feeling that pride too when the rubes boo Hispanics at Trumps therapy session rallies with the Klan. Demographics, Trumps base is the shrinking one, not doing too well with the younger generation either, MAGA, lmfao.

Ummmm Millenial numbers continue to rise for Trump. As do independents. Your demographics schtick is gonna make you look like a fool, again.
