Less Caleb more Young really benefitting Ron and Geo. Paul doing a lot of great things off the ball in calebs place.
Shortened the bench, found the right rotation and stuck with it. Plus shots started falling and confidence soared.

Unreal. I looked early at my phone and it was 19-8 IU and said I will watch Dateline. Called my friend who said we were up 8 with 15 minutes left so I turned it on and watched the rest.

Hitting 3s opened up the offense. Way more alley oops, dunks and easy layups.
Also the defense was 100x better than anything we've seen in a while. They looked like they did against Illinois earlier this year.

I thought the effort was trash for the first 10 min or so and then excellent for the rest. So if something happened, it happened during the game because TJD was manhandling everyone and we were being outhustled overall.

Winner winner chicken dinner. Much easier to play loose and with confidence once the sphere drops thru the cylinder.
I was happy to see the transition game return. We finally started to finish. Note that we made 3s but only a few were in halfcourt sets. We made them in transition kick outs. That was the case early on too. To get those opportunities, you have to execute in transition which we hadn’t done well at all until today for a long time. Finally finishing again!
Pike shortened the bench, started Young and Geo and Ron caught fire. Thank God! What a great turn around tonight. I wasn't even concerned when they got down fifteen. I just felt it in my gut they would come back and destroy Indiana. And that's what they did.
I turned off the game and they started making shots. In a way I'm the MVP.
Caleb played his least amount of minutes in 6 weeks.

When Harper was struggling he was just missing open shots.

Young needed to play more no doubt but a few more minutes from him and a few less from McConnell doesn’t cause us to suddenly shoot 49% from fg and 39% from 3 lol.
We shot much better and had some fun, that’s really why we won.
This. If you have no threat from three, any competent defense will be able to shut you down. Hit some threes, and everything opens up. We have been getting decent looks from 3 all year. We just haven't been hitting them.
The title question of this post might be the easiest question the entire season. As many have already said, the shots started going in. It's really as simple as that

when the shots drop, it definitely makes them play harder on the other end
Yup, they made a couple shots, which gave them confidence and away they went.
Makes the game so much more enjoyable raises the energy level.

Starting with Syracuse and including Iowa because Caleb only played 11 minutes he's played 20 in all but Penn state after:
Harper 41/50 (51%) from the floor before Caleb and 46/130 (35%) after Caleb joined the rotation... More specifically 27/78 (34%) after the lineup change
Young 33/67 (49%) before Caleb and 63/138 (45%) after and 37/82 (45%) after lineup change
Mathis 32/72 (44%) before Caleb and 20/70 (28%) and 12/39 (31%) after the lineup change
Ya now matter how determined or mentally strong a player may be, when the shots don't fall, especially over a long stretch, it weighs on a player.

I'll take it back a little, I think we have seen some level of loafing, and you are right I think it stems from frustation.
But overall I think they put in the effort.
I don't think they really brought extra today, I don't think that was the difference this game to some of the other recent losses.
Rutgers is at its best when they play with a chip on their shoulder. It's things like a post from an IU site that should provide fuel to the tank.
We got outrebounded by a weak rebounding team.

the possession before the Geo 3 that started the run Ron drove to the lane and had a simple jump stop and a bounce pass for a Myles dunk. Instead he ran right through the stop sign and committed a turnover. We were playing like garbage and then shots started to fall.
