<p class="MsoNormal">Two years ago, the University of Kentucky baseball team watched the NCAA Tournament pairings as a group and celebrated when their name appeared on the TV screen.</p> <p class="MsoNormal">Today, as the Wildcats were being announced as a No. 3 seed in the Ann Arbor, Mich., regional, UK coach <span style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold">John Cohen</span> had his team on the practice field. UK didn't watch a minute of the selection show.</p> <p class="MsoNormal">"At this stage of the game, I don't want it to be a celebration for the University of Kentucky to get into the NCAA Tournament," Cohen said. "I want it to be <font size="6">expected</font>. It's another workday for us."</p>

Cohen needs to respect Polk in every way possible. I know Polk did not finish on the best of terms but he can be a great ambassador for the university.

we really don't need to burn any bridges with him unless it's absolutely necessary. And in the end, I don't think we will.

has pointed to Polk not burning the bridges but blowing them up if Raffo didn't get the job. I hope it does not turn ugly but I am afraid it might.

See his first retirement (and even his second) for an example. I really think that when the dust settles, he'll calm down somewhat and things won't be as bad as he threatens. But the bottom line is, we've got to do what's best for MSU baseball and if that means alienating Polk, then so be it.

Since it is Cohen, I see Polk being OK with it in public. He might give Bryne the cold shoulder. But I see Polk being to busy trying to get Raffo the job at AU or UK right now.

...it's been eerily quiet on the Polk front since the end of the season. I don't know if that's good or bad, but it's been nice.
