If not for teams with losing records going to bowl games, there wouldn’t be enough teams to play in bowl games with all the teams that have opted out of playing in bowls. Bowl games are scrambling to find anyone to play in their games, and the NCAA has said records don’t matter this year when it comes to bowls. Hell, Vandy could play in one at 0-9.

You do know that over half of the opt outs had losing records. This year the bowls are being used as an OOC game because there were none.

Tie ins are basically irrelevant this year. There is growing concern that finding ANY opponent will be a challenge. Hope we get one and that they avoid being shut down the next week.

This year when the Vegas Bowl cancelled the SEC signed a one year deal with the Armed Forces Bowl

We definitely deserve a 17n bowl game. I would love to see Ohio State, Oklahoma, North Dame or USC play a SEC West schedule every year. Or us go play their schedule. There is no parody between conferences. Bama will skull drag Ohio State or North Dame. They would all be middle of the pack in the west every year.

Non of these teams really deserved a bowl game in my opinion. 6-6 in the regular season is very mediocre. Having a losing record in 2016 and nearly losing the bowl game is downright embarrassing.

I don’t want to hear the excuse that this years team played an all SEC schedule. They lost to Arky, UK, Texas A&M, OM, and Auburn. All those games were very winnable. Just win about 3 games out of those, and this team would deserve a bowl at 6-4. They didn’t though and 3-7 isn’t good enough for a bowl. I would love for the bowls to get cut significantly. Maybe make 8 wins a requirement in a normal season. It wouldn’t happen because of money, but it would be better for the game. It’s not hard for teams to get 6 wins especially with all the cupcakes you can schedule these days.

look this team played a lot better towards the end of the season. That doesn’t mean they should be bowl eligible.
