of Nebraska football being totally irrelevant. Watching these bowls and seeing teams playing that have home stadiums that hold 35,000 makes me want to puke. Two years in a row we have missed a bowl, while that team to the east with the urine colored pants taunts us with yet another year of mediocrity flaunted as evidence of their superiority over us. And right now they are right.

Next year cannot come soon enough. Damn

It's always going to be next year does the Husker's. I am not so sure. It is one thing to get through the mild west, quite another when we come up against some other top 25 teams. I didn't watch every single game but enough to see where we don't measure up. More on that later.

Hmmm... you must be referring to he Michigan game. Because we measured up pretty well with Ohio Stste, Northwestern and Iowa.

More on that later.

I think this is another by-product of NU missing bowl games the past two seasons, as well as the general mediocrity of the program the past 20 years.

I hate the fact that NU has missed bowl games the past two years. I’ve barely watched any of the bowl games in two years, including the playoff games. It’s like hearing all about a great party that everyone was invited to but you.

Just my opinion ...but year one or not blue blood program’s should never cite three games where we collectively went 0-3 as measuring up. Particularly when one of those teams is a 5 loss team and the other is a 4 loss team that fans here use as the very definition of mediocrity.

Looking forward to year 2 where the bottom line is wins and losses and we can do away with a bunch of qualifiers and almosts.

Yep. Scary to think what a couple more years under Riley would have gotten us. We went from "being Iowa" under Pelini to "being Minnesota" under Riley. A year or two more under him and we might have permanently ended up being "Oregon State"

This to shall pass. It all starts with an administration and coaching staff that is in sync and dedicated to a winning program and then continues with the time required to build the program. We haven't had that since T.O. retired as coach. I believe we have that now and we are on to the next phase of recruiting the kind of talent we need and establishing the culture we need.

No program "deserves" to win just because they have in the past. People need to get over the last 20 years and understand the level of parity that is out there now.

Many keep looking for when we are going to be at a level to me in the college playoff picture. I would suggest worrying about how to win the west first. Stop overlooking everything else we have to do to get there.

Respectfully Pennsyhusker....

Buy a dog.....:D and relax.....get a hobby.....take a trip.....raise a orphan...find someone who is 'down and out' and help them put their life/family back together.....

"Football"... It's just a game.... and even in the short run of things of life....means nothing.

Yes its fun to watch....but don't let it control your emotions....even for a little bit......life is simply too short Pennsyhusker.....and there are so many truly worthy things to give your emotions to.

Have a blessed 2019!

My frustration with the bowls this year was watching 80% of the teams and thinking that Nebraska, at 4-8, could have beaten them. It was a painful year but a corner was turned from a buy-in/mental standpoint. Plus we have a QB and that gets you a long way towards competing with every team on the schedule. The West should be a real grinder next year, we'll be right in there with the rest of the slightly-better-than-average bunch. Now, back to basketball....

Lol. I have two dogs. And 50 sheep, 10 goats, 5 pigs, and 250 chickens. I am currently relaxing with a nice cigar and enjoy several hobbies. Just got back from a delightful trip to a hideaway near Lake Ontario. Oh... and we are currently helping a woman and her son who are refugees from Eritrea get on their feet here in America. They have been living with us for five months.

And yet I am STILL tired of Husker football being irrelevant.

Go figure....

I wish you would stop being so negative. It's Jan 2 and people should be optimistic with all the great things that are possible in 2019. No need to revisit the past and plaster the board with negative energy and bellyaching.

I understand what you’re saying, and my post was in response to the post saying we don’t measure up to teams in the top 25. All I was saying was that we are closer to them then he wants to give us credit for.

I agree that going 0-3 against those teams doesn’t prove much. But having a chance to win in all 3 games, all 3 of which were on the road, says we are heading in the right direction.

The ball hasn't bounced our way for some time. Remember though, luck isn't given, it's earned and make no mistake about it, Frost will get his team to earn it.

Of course, more on that later. Because you wouldn't be you without your endless stream of constant negativity and raining on everyone's parade. If we all believed in your nonsense, we might as well give up ever being relevant again.

Lighten up, Francis! What endless stream of negativity are you referring to? One thread. Pennsy hasn’t been posting here for awhile, due to all of the negativity on this board. And now, he’s the cause of so much negativity?

Jeez, we eat our own here, don’t we?

Yea, no. We could play with 14-25 and maybe some within the top 10. Ohio State?

Once you get to the top six or so, you really see the difference in athletes. Top 25 we can play with most of them.
