One reason to to revoke it is so that anybody passing info onto somebody without security clearance is breaking the law by revealing classified secrets. One reason Brennan's should have been a long time ago.

As much as Trump dislikes her, I'm surprised it wasn't revoked his first day in office? It's not like they were going to be asking her advice on matters of state as much as the Great Pumpkin hates her.

That's normally the reason past SoS's keep theirs, to give the incoming SoS and their team advice on the current state of US relations and access to their connections.

There should be a law that revokes all Security Clearances for all former employees that leave office or forced to leave. Then, the clearances can be reinstated on a as needed basis.

You have to leave them valid for a time until the new staff can be briefed in full. After that, perhaps on a need to know basis only at higher levels of govt.

I had an Uncle who worked as a contractor and consultant on satellite R&D during the Cold War. His was continuous simply because it's too much trouble for the FBI to investigate the previously cleared on anything but a cursory basis when they're called back up? There are literally thousands of contractors with limited security clearances employed by the govt. I suspect things aren't much different now?

His oldest daughter dated a Commie back around '81, when she was in college. He could have lost his job. I thought he was going to sell her to slavers in some Third World country the way he was ranting?

The money was cut off and she had to come home where Mom could keep an eye on her.

Different than these political hack appointees.

Absolutely, Airport.

I think Henry Kissinger has had top level clearance since late in Ike's term? He probably doesn't remember what he had for lunch. Why the Hell does he need that clearance?

No reason why. He's not been vocal about what he thinks publicly. Maybe he's dead!
