How in the hell does a 4* kid from Florida with those offers commits to Maryland in the first place?
Well their coach's resume may have looked good to him. Maybe he's not from Florida originally and wants to get out of the south. Dunno. We've got some guys on this staff who are highly thought of by Florida highly thought of by Florida high school coaches.

Nobody should play football at Maryland.
I found everything about Maryland football when I was there Saturday to be deader than dead. There was one tailgating area near their basketball arena but that was it. As you approached the stadium there was NOTHING going on. Nobody there except Husker fans. Going to be real hard to recruit to that school.

That is very sad.

God I felt sorry for them watching that game. What an awful program.

Let's not loose sight of the fact that Maryland hired Mike Locksley as their head coach. The same Mike Locksley who was 2-26 at New Mexico and seems to have had some off field issues as well.

New Mexico coach Mike Locksley was fired Sunday, one day after yet another tough loss and another embarassing off-the-field incident.

Athletic director Paul Krebs announced Locksley's dismissal in a
statement and said associate head coach and defensive coordinator
George Barlow will serve as interim head coach for the rest of the
season.

Krebs said he will hold a news conference Monday afternoon to
discuss the coaching change.

Locksley won two games in two-plus seasons, for a career record of 2-26. The Lobos dropped to 0-4 this season after losing to FCS Sam Houston State 48-45 on Saturday before an announced crowd of 16,313 at University Stadium in Albuquerque. It was the Lobos' smallest home crowd in almost 19 years.

A school official said Joshua Butts, 19, borrowed a vehicle from
Locksley's son, who's a walk-on player for the Lobos.

The SUV is registered to Meiko Locksley and Mike Locksley's
wife, Kia, according to athletic department spokesman Frank
Mercogliano.

Police said Butts claimed he was brought from Chicago to play
football for the Lobos. Mercogliano said Butts isn't a recruit and
isn't on the team.

Butts is facing charges of aggravated DWI, being a minor in
possession of alcohol, reckless driving and driving without a
license, police said.

It was just the latest string of missteps for Locksley.

In 2009, Locksley was served with a one-game suspension for punching one of his assistant coaches. He also was sued for sexual harassment by a former administrative assistant, though he resolved all legal claims in that matter.

After New Mexico completed another 1-11 season last year, the Lobos decided to retain him -- in part because they could not afford the
$1.4 million buyout to his contract.

Locksley was hired in December 2008 after four seasons as Illinois' offensive coordinator. He replaced Rocky Long, who resigned after reaching five bowl games in 11 seasons with New Mexico.

My favorite part of the game last Saturday was Locksley shaking his head after his team was down by a couple scores midway through the first half. Right then, I knew the game was over. You never want to see your head coach shake his head or close his eyes slowly like that.

Hope someone on staff can flip him. We need speed at LB.

The more speed at linebacker the better. Nebraska needs a huge talent upgrade at linebacker in general so I am glad we're seeing such a focus on it right now. Would love to get this guy while also weakening another Big 10 team in the process.

My high school had better tailgating than Maryland did. Was so pathetic.

Exactly. Glad you were there and can confirm what I saw. Truly, the most pathetic game day environment at a P5 school I have ever seen.
Will be interesting to see what it will be like in 25 years when we play Maryland again at their place.

sounds like he has made a great life out of not being great at life...good for him. I don't know how many on this board could harass a woman at work and get caught for it, punch a co-worker, be the worst at you job in the country, and then get hired for a better job and get paid more..

That is what happens when you are part of the Nick Saban coaching tree.

Locksley's only saving grace is he's a good recruiter with a lot of resources and contacts in the South.
Perhaps we can find a spot for him once he gets canned. We can backload the contract; we will pay him $50,001 until his buyout from MD is done and then we can throw a bunch of cash at him as he brings in the big-time recruits.

this would be an awesome pick up and a position of need. Adding him to the roster with Nick Henrichs and Jackson Hannah for the future would be huge at ILB.

I think it’s best to look at where they took official visits. Too many guys out there showing offers from Alabama who could only get to visit campus if it was on their own dime.
