“Following extensive consultation with the Irish government, medical authorities and the administrative staffs at Nebraska and Illinois, the 2021 season-opening football game scheduled for Aug. 28 between the two schools will not be played at Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Huskers and Fighting Illini still plan to open the 2021 season on Aug. 28, but now the game will be played in Champaign at Illinois’ Memorial Stadium.”

Not surprised at all.

Well ****! Would have been quite the story to tell down the road. Has anything been mentioned about a possible future date?

it was their home game
I'm aware. The idea of a home team playing at a neutral site in a foreign country is a silly concept to me. Nebraska's will travel to see the huskers. Illini probably can't get 100 people to make the trip. Of course if they had asked Nebraska to give up their home game to go overseas, we tell them no thanks. Can't give up that much money.
