Helicopter parents see that students can get accommodations for extended time to take quizzes and exams, so they want the same for their kids too…

I’m only surprised the number of students who’ve gotten accomodations in the past few years hasn’t risen more…

It's amazing to me that these 'adult' parents are so wrapped up with competing and status that they can't see they are just feeding into the very system that consumes them. And honestly, I wonder why they care? Remember Lori Laughlin and all that bullshlt with getting her kids on the UCLA sports team or whatever? I mean, doesn't your family have enough money now? WTF do you care about minor college sports?

I make fun of the Boomers a good bit but Gen X is the absolute shittiest pussified group of parents imaginable.

Yes it is. My son who had to have 19 surgeries on his dominant arm after his SxS accident, was told by his college teachers, that he could have up to twice the time limit for tests and quizzes. He told them he didn't need it. He said that there are kids in his classes who get extra time for anxiety, and other rediculous stuff. One is getting it for his parents' recent divorce.

Some kids do have legitimate reasons for extra time but it is starting to get a little out of control who’s getting extra time and for the reasons why.

What does the extra time actually do for you if you don’t truly have some disability? If you didn’t know it in the allotted time, I doubt you come up with it in your extra time. Maybe that’s just me
Depends on the test, some math tests are so you don't have time to double check your work, same with physics, composition, and basket weaving.

Maybe we are not looking at this deep enough. Maybe the drive to insure everydamnbody goes to college is the problem. The world still needs train conductors and engine drivers, and bus drivers, and delivery drivers and, plumbers and electrician and computer techs and yes, even ditch diggers and fruit pickers!

My business competitors have agreed to work 50% less during football season as a reasonable accommodation to allow me to read SPS more

I aced mine but i was still cognizant of time limits and rushing a bit. So I can see how extra time can help some.

Extra time for people with vision problems or some other disability that physically hinders them is fine. But if its for anxiety or you get winded easy or something, then you should just get to tag out with pencils down until you're ready to start back up. Just giving extra time to everyone is lazy for the testing company.

I think if they're going to give accommodations then they should put an asterisk on the score so people can know. Maybe two asterisks.**
