So Fast....and Final

We were #1 and undefeated for 141 days this season - then in the waning moments of our final game we fall behind and have our season ended - and two days later our nemesis wins the championship that should have been ours.

I understand why people have compared it to a death in the family - it was just so sudden and cruel.

I don't like the comparison to death in the family because it's a little bit too extreme. There's no bringing a dead family member back like there is with a new season and a fresh start.

There is no denying the heartbreak though... For me, a better comparison would be losing your job. It sucks and feels like the end of the world at the time but eventually you recover and start a new job (season).

Understand what you mean my man ... I was pretty down and out until I went to Physical Therapy today and was told I'll be able to walk again after two months of rehab on my knee!!! I had a medial femoral condial knee allograft I believe is what it is called, and was super bummed cause my Cats lost, couldn't walk, then those words came out of her mouth "You can walk in a week!" My birthday is the 13th which is the day I'll be able to walk, and my sons is May 7th, so in the grand scheme of things, our loss wasn't that bad.

Yeah, the death in the family comparison was someone else's - though I know where they are coming from.

Maybe it's more like being jilted on your wedding day, and finding out two days later your fiance ran off with some dude you can't stand.

I think it stings for me so much (other than the obvious, losing our 39th game and being so close to perfection) is the amount of time that we had with the team. It started in August with 6 games in the Bahamas! A perfect appetizer to what would be a phenomenal season! Then 2 short months later it was Big Blue Madness and the season got rolling and it was absolutely amazing....then, in 4 short minutes it was all taken away so sudden! At least 2 me, those extra 2 months and 6 games really ramped up the excitement for what everyone knew would be a special season!
