So Duke is 20 points better than us?

Better, but not 20 points better. Duke has a reliable go to scorer in Bagley (24.5 pts 10.5 rebs season avgs so far) UK needs a go to scorer. Season just started. Hamidou might be that go to guy

Right now they’re about 12-15 points better. Right now doesn’t matter. Not saying we’ll be better in March, but it’ll be closer than some of the Duke jock riders want to admit.

10 points according to NBA scouts.

We were better than UNC last year too by like an average of 6 ppg.

If only it were that simple.

In all seriousness, they probably are 8-12 points better than us right now. Doesn't necessarily mean that will be the case in March, though.

Agreed. You know our guys would man up for that game. Not saying we would win, but not conceding we would lose either. Duke has been known to fold up like a cheap chair in close games in March.

People are way over-exaggerating things.

If we faced Duke even today we wouldn't be a 20 point underdog. We wouldn't be a 10 point underdog. We might be 5-6 point underdog.

So I'm gonna say they are currently 5 to 6 points better than us.

You would need to factor in the fatigue that Utah Valley was dealing with so that could have added 8 or 10 points to the margin.
That said Duke probably has a better team.
Bagley and Allen will give them a lot of offensive firepower. They are the favorite to win it all but as we all know doesn't mean it will happen

YOU STOP IT.

Did you pay attention to anything last year?

Last year Duke was better than '15 Kentucky. By 10 points. South Carolina was playing at the equivalent of a zero seed that night when they beat you.

Those 9 losses were in fact due to perturbations in the space-time fabric of the universe and, from a physics standpoint, were impossible within this plane of existence.

Right now... probably.
The margin will tighten as the season progresses, but Duke is and will be the better team this season.

Next year, though....

I totally disagree. Depending on one go to guy is a recipe for an early exit.
I would rather have 7 guys that are reliable scorers.
Duke has Carter, Bagley and Allen that can go off. But if you take Bagley away they could be in big trouble.
He is the centerpiece of everything duke does, and rightfully so, but if he gets hurt or runs into a defense that takes him out Duke is in trouble.
Looking at UK's personnel I'm not seeing one guy that is going to be a centerpiece. Maybe Knox, but I don't see that happening.

I think this team has too much upside for a total collapse and can go anywhere from round two to the final weekend.

Well, considering we are one of the youngest teams in the country, it is November 11th giving us 4 months to improve, we played without Vanderbilt, we may be able to reduce that total come NCAA tourney time. Let’s see how things progress, long way to go.

It's November guys.
Remember how good IU looked in November last year? How did that turn out?
It's a long season, let it play out.
Truth be told, Texas A&M looked better than everybody that I have seen play to this point. What they did to a really good West Virginia team was seriously impressive.

Hell no..it's not even a fair/legit comparison..Utah Valley St. was just in Lexington less than 24 hours before their game IN Durham vs. Duke. The Utah Valley St. team Duke played was mentally, physically, and emotionally drained. Duke may be better but they're nowhere near 20 points better. And they won't be better at all come March.

Utah traveled to UK Thursday, played us Friday in a game they thought they were going to win at half time only to get outscored by 19 in the 2nd half. They get on a plane and fly to wherever duke plays, get to their rooms about 1 or 2 AM. Turn around and play the next afternoon against a very good team and lay an egg. What a shock. duke is a very good team but absolutely nothing can be gleaned from these results to compare us to them this early in the season and under these circumstances, despite the fact we have a long way to go to reach our potential. If you've played sports you know just because team A drilled team B and team B played team C closely for half a game doesn't mean team A would beat team C by a lot or at all. We won't play duke until March at the earliest anyway.

Zone defense killed that team. Duke is loaded period. Inside and outside game, this Duke team reminds me of the KAT team.

Meh.

We replay Friday's game, zone 40 minutes but change nothing else, and we're 30 to 40 points better than *ourselves* from what the score would show.

What does it all mean? It means we're still figuring out how to play with our youngest squad ever.

Go figure.

Why are some of you getting so offended at the thought of Duke being a better basketball team than UK is right now? Relax.
Let duke carry the pressure of being the top dog. When they fail in March, they will be left to defend why.
But we need to see more from UK to have any kind of an idea on where they are at as a team. The first half of Friday night's game was the worst I have ever seen a Calipari coached team play. They looked awful.
The second half was better, but that zone is not going to shut down well coached top teams, that just happened to get us a win in THAT game. UK has a seriously long way to go.
Duke looked further along at this point, but having a veteran player like Grayson Allen will do that for you. That's the difference and that has to be okay. No need to get offended when someone suggests that Duke might be better in November.

You should probably delete that last comment. This duke team has no bench and is nothing like the 15 Cats. That team went 10 deep.
This duke team looks a heck of a lot like the 17/18 duke blue devil team and that's about it.

Anything can happen in March, obviously, but Duke is hella young too. They will improve.

They’ll have the better roster on Selection Sunday as well. Helps having a transcendent future NBA All-Star like Bagley to make that happen.

Fortunately, the NCAA tourney is a one-loss-and-you’re-out format. Duke has a fairly good chance of going down in flames with all their freshmen dependency and a cluster-f#ck senior leader in Allen.
