Rowdey will be 23 years old before the first pitch of 2022. I don’t see any way he comes back….NIL or not. Would basically take him not being drafted at all in order for it to happen.

I think this is the answer. If he somehow goes completely undrafted today, there's an outside chance, but I can't imagine there is enough local money to keep him from signing otherwise.

1. I don't think people are just going to start paying tuition for kids because of NIL
2. What about rent, food, etc.?

While I understand that NIL can make boosters paying kids legal, it's still got to make sense to pay the kid. I have a business, but I'm not dropping $10k on a kid to get one or two phone calls out of it. Maybe someone who has a bigger business than me can justify it...

In what way does it "make sense" to pay a high school football recruit $10k under the table when you get zero recognition out of it? That's the only way it has to make sense for the NIL deals.

Not sure anybody is going to want to drop $50k to have Rowdy make a few appearances and play one more season at MSU, but it'd be awesome if they did. How hard would it be to round up 10 big boosters to sign Rowdy up for a $5,000 appearance during the season. Should be able to net him around $38k after taxes. Not sure that's going to move the needle compared to going ahead and taking his shot in the minor leagues, but if he enjoys being the man in college and would like to do it anyway, at least making it where he wouldn't have to come out of pocket to do it could make it more desirable.

Pro ball players have a limited life span. He needs to go pro before he gets "Too Old". He might not make a lot the first few years, but he must go through those minor league years whenever he enters the pro ranks. Yes he will be missed, but he needs to think about a career. And it shouldn't be coaching HS Ball, or selling insurance just yet.
