I wouldn't say she choked, but definitely another gut-punch. This form of racing seems like a crapshoot.

Three times in the olympics she's had huge leads and then wiped out and lost the race. This time was a close race but she got edged out on a turn and finished in 4th. Some people are meant to be winner's and some are meant to lose.

Well aren't you just a little ray of sunshine!

I am sure it is all in the perspective, but it is hard for me to see her as someone meant to lose when she has been in the Olympics multiple times. She must be winning at something.

LOL! Message board poster calling an Olympian a loser. Good times.

She is actually the most decorated athlete in the history of Snowboard Cross, she's won 15 golds in the event between World's and Winter X Games. Just has bad luck or has made stupid mistakes in the Olympics.

In this Olympics, the little I watched of the Snowboard Cross event, while I know very little about it, I think the track was poorly designed. After a bunch of turns and features early on, the last long run to the finish was just a straightaway with some jumps. After getting past the early stuff, it provided little opportunity for much passing near the end. On either the last or second to last turn, she kinda got pushed to the top by another rider crowding from the inside, which slowed her down, and then she basically had nowhere after that to gain her position back.

You act like I don't agree with your comment.

I'm just beginning snowboarding, reading this was pretty interesting. I want to ask you guys, one my friend has a pretty cool snowboard that he wants to sell but I don't know whether to buy it since I'm just a beginner. Does a snowboard affect how easy it is to learn? If I were to buy a new snowboard is a longer or a shorter one better? I know that at least in skies shorter skies will be easier to manoeuvre I guess it will work the same for a snowboard. But a longer snowboard seems much more stable and I'm inclined into buying a longer one. I've checked out some gear on here https://bluehouseskis.com/ still a bit overwhelmed a little bit...

Where are you learning? I taught snowboarding in Beaver Creek, CO as a side gig for ten years. I taught myself when I was younger and it was painful but the equipment and teaching strategies are much better. I always keep in mind my experience learning the hard way. Hope you stick with it and give yourself grace.

I don't watch very much of the Winter Olympics, but I do enjoy the events where there's an actual race between the competitors instead of just the clock. Short track speed skating is another fun event to watch.
