Texas Christian University sells beer at baseball games according to this article & I assume all Athletic events. Nice reminder of how absolutely ***-backwards we are here in the SEC and especially in Mississippi.

So you would rather pay $8.00 per beer just to buy it in the Stadium when you can buy 6 for $8.00 and bring them in?

And you call Miss. and the SEC ***-backwards. Your math skills are concerning.

Just messing with you though.

If someone wants to pay $8 a beer for convenience, that is their prerogative. I am in New Orleans this weekend for the Bayou Country Superfest and I can assure you a beer will be more than $8 and I will still buy it.... for convenience.

But I think, if colleges are going to allow beer sales at sporting events, there should be competitive stands. Nobody gets exclusive contract. If Anheiser wants to charge $8 per beer in their stands and Miller Lite and Coors wants to charge $5, so be it. Competition on the field. Competition in the concessions!!

Just looks like a lot of speculation and no comments to questions. No real concrete details from what I saw. The only thing we know from that article is he is interested, which we already knew.

He is probably talking more about the grandstand and other sports.

My opinion is that in stadium alcohol sales in the SEC will happen in the near future. The conference will will struggle to increase revenue in the next round of television rights negotiations and the 14 Athletic Departments are addicted to exponentially increased revenue streams. The next money grab by SEC schools will be alcohol in the stadiums.

And Scott Field won't be able to get a liquor license, because they don't make 50% of their profits from food.**

I had no idea Schlossnagle arleady made $1.5 M. I believe he is interested in making the move, but I bet he will ultimately get a healthy raise and stay put.

Liquor license and beer license are two completely different things. You don’t have to sell food to get a beer license.

I think the 50 percent rule he was referencing is an “***-backward” Starkville thing but I could be wrong.

This thread went from “we think we’re getting Schloss” to a discussion about beer-sells surprising fast.

Guys, it was a joke, which is why I actually used sarcasterics (something I rarely do, because almost all of my posts should be considered sarcastic). I don't even know what the alcohol rules are in Starkville anymore. I just thought it would be so typical for all the powers that be to agree to sell beer at football games and our local laws somehow still prevent it.

But, a joke isn't funny if you have to explain it....

i wholeheartedly agree with you, and my reply to your sarcastic post wasn't meant to be a smartass post. Sorry if it was taken that way.

Its not even convenient. You still have to get up and wait in line each time as opposed to just reaching into your cooler that is right there. MSU and others in the SEC have the absolute best set up imaginable as it is. And as soon as they start selling in the stadium, if they ever do, you can kiss the coolers goodbye for good.

Isn't the campus outside of the Starkville city limits. Beer used to be illegal in Oktibehha County outside the Starkville City limits. Is it still this way?

You are looking at this just through baseball glasses. You can't exactly bring in a cooler at Davis Wade or the hump. Beer sales across the board are needed.

You can certainly bring things into both places if you desire. Personally I float my buzz from the tailgate during football games, and basketball games aren’t really long enough to require more than a small flask if anything. All that being said, I’m totally in favor of beer sales happening so long as they allow the DNF coolers to stay.
