Appears y'all getting quite a few this offseason lol. I'm still trying to figure out why Calhoun left with the stable of backs y'all have there aren't going to be enough carries for everyone

What does Andrews have returning for them to be picked so high?

Football is won in the trenches, especially in SMC. And last year the Cats mauled everybody. I believe they return just about all their linemen. Yeah they lose almost all their skill players, but if the line maintains the level they played at the skill players should be able to adjust. If the line don't perform, then yeah Andrews is gonna struggle. Aquilar looked good running the ball but not sure who their other back will be. The biggest question mark might be their linebackers. They lost the best trio in the conference in Martin, Martin, and Tathum (sounds like an ambulance-chasin law firm commercial haha). Phillips will have the Cats ready to compete whether they end up finishing near the top or not.

Yeah it don't help Rville out unless they end up needing the depth and it's a real killer for the Braves!

Cherokeekid do u know the braves schedule? I know they are not playing franklin or east Gaston this year. Was wondering who they replaced them with. I know they host smoky mountain week 1 and I know the 5 conference games due to seeing the rest of smcs schedules

I didn't see The game against draughn but I did see them play Mount airy. Andrews must have had a terrible game against them. Because that was no big time line. Standing up and blocking for passes. Or stupid zone blocking wish to me has run its course because of what it does to the other side of the ball especially if kids go both ways. Except for a few counter plays they didn't do a single thing against Mount airy. In fact I'm sure it wasn't in the top five teams that they had played this year. So what happened to the line against them? I don't say that to it to the smart alec. I'm saying that because did they just have a bad game? Or were some of the guys hurt? For all the talk about draughn I didn't see a single lineman that I thought was impressive. Now they were one or two on the defensive line that were pretty good.

I can't comment on Draughn or Mt. Airy's line. All I know is that Andrews line manhandled the rest of the conference and most of their linemen will be back. Their line should keep them in most if not all the games. If their line turns out to not be as good as I think they will be then yeah it might be a long year for the Cats.

I think Draughn had an offensive lineman that was a D1 prospect. Maybe he didn't have a good game against Mt. Airy or he didn't play. I don't know just seems like I heard they had at least one stud. Don't know if he was a junior or senior or what.

Andrews played their worst game defensively all year against draughn in my opinion. Not sure if it was draughn or just bad d-line play, but Andrews got zero pressure on the QB and didn't do a great job of stopping the run that night.

MA defensive line last year was equally as good if not better than every single offensive line they played against and that includes Draughn. Draughn and ER had some monsters up front but MA was much more physical and athletic. Dandy gets all the noise but 59 the senior was as good as a 1a football player you will find on the defensive line. Undersized compared to everyone that blocked him but dude was a beast all year long

Right on brother. Nobody could block that kid. Somebody said I'm pretty sure his little brother is number 22. The freshman that came in and ate tarboro up after replacing dandy when he got hurt.

Dandy and 22 on the other edge with the big freshman at nose. It’s no wonder they can play 1 on 1 tight coverage everywhere. The D line dictates your whole defense in my opinion and they’ve got a good one. And I’m no MA fan but they’ve got it figured out

Andrews will be just fine. Most of their line is back. Qb is very smart and will run the team well, he has size at 6’3 and is very competitive. We have 2 super quick backs and one strong stocky fullback. If the young linebackers work hard in off season should be ok. We won’t be a pushover even after losing our top skill players. Coaching staff will adjust

The Lineman was a senior and committed to Gardner Webb. They still have a pretty big line and a few new pieces so they should make a run this fall. a lot of good teams in the west and I wish all of them the best this fall. 🙏🏽 for an Injury free season

After watching the film of Andrew’s previous games I agree. Y’all have a really good team and hopefully we can see a rematch this fall hopefully down the mountain lol.

I think so. The boys from Burke county were pretty good on defense. They forced a few punts from Mount airy which was something most people did not do. Plus after thinking about it the quarterback and running back will probably be a lot better off without that showboat number 4 out there. He probably took a lot of focus off of the kid's minds on the games.

Choices that young men are free to make or their daddy’s make for them, but usually all it amounts to whether it’s Robbinsville or Murphy is very little playing time and a chance to get a ring. Personally I hate seeing it just like I hate seeing the transfer portal. To each his own

I’ve been waiting patiently for Hayesville to be competitive in the SMC, last year there was a lot of progress. As a fan I really appreciate the kid’s efforts. I believe Hayesville is tired of the moral victories and working to get over the hump this coming year. I think the ceiling for them this year would be (9-2) finishing 2nd in SMC play. Yet still a lot of time between now and August

Same, they produce some of the better throwing QBs every year and always have skill players, they just never really have the line/physicality to match up with the rest of the SMC.

They played pretty physical against Mount airy but just didn't have the speed. I was impressed.
I watched that till it became uncompetitive, they definitely played hard and I was happy to see them represent the SMC. Unfortunately football/wrestling is hardly their "main" sports and it has showed for many years. I wholeheartedly believe that if they could get some buy in from the kids to pursue those endeavors they could see some real, sustained success considering the type of talent they do produce at the skill positions.
