The real question is... how much longer does this playoff system go on? It definitely spices up the southern half.If there was EVER a year for Johnston City to get there. THIS HAS TO BE IT

Famous last words... I recall many QND fans saying the same until that day in Maroa when we should have kicked the FG... destiny and fate were sealed at the same time. If not that year, then likely neverIf there was EVER a year for Johnston City to get there. THIS HAS TO BE IT
It’s why I don’t really believe in them. I watched them struggle with Wesclin last year and were the 1 seed. I just don’t see it happening.Famous last words... Coach Dixon at CPC says he’s drafting a proposal to go back how things were. The real question is... how much longer does this playoff system go on? It definitely spices up the southern half.
I agree and I am not a fan of the new system. However, there are some young programs who are looking forward to the extra game because it helps keep the kids focused.Coaches being interviewed and saying, "Lets wait and see how it goes" is code for THIS WHOLE THING SUCKS
Im for 1-32 in each class...Im a fan of trimming the fat in one clean swoop:
6 classes / 32 teams per class
Classes 1, 2, 3 seeded North/South / Classes 4, 5, 6 seeded 1-32
Championship Weekend: Noon , 3pm , 6pm (No varsity football team should have to play the biggest game of the year at 10am)
Triopia has 24 freshmen this year out of their roster. Do not see them coopingI was looking at some schools that are struggling with the conference they are in and just brainstorming where maybe they should go...
Big Northern
~Rockford Lutheran
~Rock Falls
*No idea where they could go for green fields..
Big 12
Urbana and Peo. Manual... Same as above
Eldorado and Albion Edwards County... Same as above. Not sure if they can get Thompsonville or another school to show interest in playing football to COOP with...
Cahokia
~Wood River... This is a terrible program that can't score points (20 in the last 2 season)... Drop football?
CS8
~Lincoln... Back to the Apollo
Clinton... In no mans land...
Harvard... Since Motorola left things have went south the last 13+ years with only 17 wins... No mans land...
Lincoln Prairie
~Arcola, Argenta and Oakland... Consolidate or join into a coop...
~Arcola and Oakland need to COOP... Arcola has a large COOP and maybe its just growth pains with Cerro Gordo but its a ridiculous COOP! Cerro Gordo can go to the Arthur COOP and be closer to home.
~Cerro Gordo could COOP with Agenta...
~Arcola is located in no mans land because they will never COOP with Tuscola nor Arthur...
Lewiston used to be a power but they have had some hard luck... Maybe a COOP with Havana...
NUIC
~Morrison and Dakota... Both are outmatched..
~Morrison and Fulton should COOP...
~Dakota and either Orangeville COOP or Dakota and DuPec COOP... or go 8-Man football..
Sangamo
~New Berlin... I can see Waverly and Franklin going with Greenfield... having practice at Palmyra games at Greenfield... New Berlin going to WIVC or 8 Man
~Pittsfield... WIVC
South Central
~Litchfield... In no mans land...
~Virden... Going back to the Sangamo
~Gillespie...COOP with Litchfield and join the Cahokia Conference... COOP with Piasa and stay in the South Central or go into the Cahokia...
WIVC
~Jacksonville Routt
~Concord Triopia... COOP with Jacksonville Routt
~Mendon Unity... COOP with Camp Point
~Pleasant Hill.... COOP with Pittsfield (Pittsfield stays in the Sangamo)
~White Hall North Green... COOP with Winchester or Greenfield
*all 4 go 8-man football...
Vermillion Valley
~Watseka and Hoopeston... Need to COOP... Watseka needs to go 8-Man.. Should These two schools COOP they would need to find another home due to their combined enrollment.
~Maybe getting Milford to COOP and get back into 11-man football may help?
Schools that should COOP....
~Pawnee and Kincaid... This will never happen but it should and this COOP would fit in with the Sangamo. The Pawnee/Kincaid COOP would have 600+ enrollment. Maybe in the South Central...
~Concord and Routt... They absolutely need to COOP to keep playing real football and not 8-Man football...
The state will force consolidation one day... Its inevitable that mass consolidation is coming...
Let me know your thoughts...
With all of the schools and coop's you mentioned, it got me thinking what IHSA football would look like if school consolidation happened like it did in many states in the 70's and 80s.I was looking at some schools that are struggling with the conference they are in and just brainstorming where maybe they should go...
Let me know your thoughts...
Back in the 70s there were many schools that consolidated by the "state" and we heard that the state wanted to do the same in Central Illinois. The thought of consolidating with our rivals wasn't well received even if just rumor...With all of the schools and coop's you mentioned, it got me thinking what IHSA football would look like if school consolidation happened like it did in many states in the 70's and 80s.
Iroquois North - Clifton Central, Iroquois West
Iroquois South - Watseka, Milford, and Cissna Park
Vermillion North - Hoopeston and BHRA
Vermillion East - Oakwood (Armstrong-Potomac) and Salt Fork
Vermillion South - Westville and Georgetown Ridgefarm
Piatt County - Argenta, Cerro Gordo, Bement
Douglas North - Villa Grove, Heritage, Tri County
Douglas West - Arcola, ALAH, and possibly Tuscola
I talked with a friend, Tim Kratochvil of Pawnee, about possible COOP/Consolidation with Kincaid... He said Pawnee reached out to Kincaid but was flatly rejected without talks. Tim further said that Pawnee would never consider any agreement with Kincaid. That was in the fall of 2021 and since then Tim has passed away. Pawnee may listen to proposals but they offered Kincaid a sweet opportunity and were "spit in the face" by Kincaid... Not my words! I believe a COOP/Consolidation with the schools in each COOP would have a 600+ enrollment that could join the Sangamo. This will never happen... WINNING in 8-man is better than getting whacked in 11-man.I think a few years ago Hoopeston discussed going to 8 man football. They brought in adminstration from Milford to discuss things. The Hoopeston people asked Milford if they would ever go back to 11 man football and they had one answer...........No because they enjoy winning. They will always be a bottom feeder even in the VVC they are happy being in 8 man and winning 6+ games a year.
Watseka should look to co-op with St. Anne but pride will stop that from happening. St. Anne is in good hands with Alan Rood as HC but they could use the numbers boost as he would like to get to 11 man football eventually.
I don't mind playing Freshman but they will get whooped for 3 years before they can be competitive with the WIVC powers... COOPing should allow for Freshmen to play a Freshman schedule and having a JV schedule is important!~ If Virden and Girard and make a consolidation work Routt and Triopia can make it work. Im not a fan of 8 man football and if something doesnt change, winning wise, both Routt and Triopia will be in 8 man football.Triopia has 24 freshmen this year out of their roster. Do not see them cooping
