Small ball lineup?

Before the season, I remember some talk of hoping to see some small ball lineups. Carter and Doucoure havent shown to bring much to the table. Now Myles is struggling as well. He will get his minutes regardless, but instead of going to Doucoure, I would like to see Pike possibly attempt a small ball lineup and see what that gives us. We are at our best offensively when we are pushing the pace up and down the court and not stuck in a half court set. With Doucoure, it's close to a 4 on 5 situation. Take a chance on a small ball lineup instead? Thoughts?

I really would like Pike to be more aggressive in the 1st half when our centers get 2 fouls instead of turning to Doucoure. If he is going to sit both shaq and MJ, then I wold really like to see a couple minuets of a lineup with Harper at the 5. Kaleb Wesson is a great player, but he is not the monster inside like Cockburn, Jalen Smith, Garza.

Duke seems like a great guy but does not give us much on the offensive or defensive end and I actually think Harper has more strength to bang down low for 3-5 mins when we get in foul trouble. I know this is not Pike's MO but you could even zone it and we have guards that can attack the boards to offset the size lost.

My only compliant about Pikiell is it seems like he is :stuck in his ways" at times and is sometimes slow to make adjustments. Still tons of hope for the rest of the season but wondering if we will ever see a lineup like this down the road.

Cockburn-Teske-Reuvers-Watkins-Smith-Williams/Haarms left on the schedule (in order).

Shaq Carter or Duke aren't really shot blockers and aren't nimble vs. 1/2 of those guys that will knock down the 3. It definitely isn't a concept I'd necessarily throw out, especially at home where our guards make it tougher for opponents to exploit advantages inside.

In the event Shaq and Myles are out I think the question is even a better one. When you put Duke head to toe with RHJ or Yeboah there isnt really that much of a size difference.

Obviously this is not on the radar in the 24 minutes Myles can and should be on the floor.

Yea, that's what I mainly focused on Doucoures minutes. He has rarely been a positive out there. Giving up the size is probably worth it. It would also mean their 5 needs to guard a Harper or Yeboah. Use that time to try to push the pace and maybe draw a foul with a big trying to guard on the perimeter. Or they might just play so far off we can get a good look from 3.

What is Doucoure's +/- this season?

I agree, but don't think the coaches do. They must be afraid that we would get killed off the boards, but I don't think we would.

If we played Quasi at the 5 on defense, we would be OK because we USUALLY were a VERY good team rebounding team until fairly recently. All of our 6-6 guys can rebound with the best of them. We really need Harper to step up on both sides of the ball.

Best of Luck,
Groz

No reason that Yeboah can't average 13-15 ppg. We need it considering MJ hasn't scored much lately because of his inability to create shots down low with a defender on him. If one guy isn't going to score 20+ than we need multiple contributors at double digits.
