I'm not very tech savvy so let me know if that link doesn't work. I was wondering if someone familiar with the rules or who has played on either of the lines can tell me if either player is committing an infraction on this play? I was reading about Rashawn Slater- he will probably be the highest NU NFL draftee in a while and saw this photo of him going at it with Chase Young. I was just curious- is this holding? And is what Chase Young doing legal?

I think it is fitting that a photo of Rashawn Slater blocking Chase Young comes with a "redirect notice." Slater redirected quite a few pass rushers during his days here.

To me it looks like Young has illegal hands to the head/face which should be a personal foul. It also looks like Slater has a handful of Jersey/shoulder pad which could get a flag for Holding....?

Looks like Slater’s hands are on the front of the shoulder pads which seems like the typical place you’re “allowed” to hold.
Young actually seems to be holding the jersey and pulling it way up - I’m not sure it’s actually illegal hands to the face/facemask.

There’s not enough in the photo to tell what’s going on - we need the video of the play. It looks like Slater is about to get beat and that Young is preparing for a nasty rip move.

Given that’s the game where Slater elevated his NFL stock significantly, it probably wasn’t that bad. But based solely on the photo it looked like Young was winning on that play, legally.
