Skyline jumped out to a big first quarter lead, fell behind at the half, then coasted to a comfortable 58-45 victory over John Handley at Skyline High School Thursday night.
Elias Carter and Ethan Caperton were on fire early as Skyline raced out to a 16-2 lead. Handley chipped away to only trail 19-12 at the end of 1st quarter. The Judges then took advantage of the Hawks bench players and built some momentum, outscoring Skyline 19-6 in the 2nd quarter and taking a 31-25 halftime lead..
But the Handley lead did not last long in the 3rd quarter as Skyline outscored the Judges 17-4 as Marlon Jackson took control. The Hawks increased their lead in the 4th quarter behind some excellent plays from Colby Wood, who played greater minutes in the 2nd half due to Elias Carter sitting out the half due to injury.
Ethan Caperton finished with 15 pts and Marlon Jackson added 13 pts and 6 rbs.
Zack Diggs and Colby Wood each finished with 9 pts for the Hawks.
Emerson Fusco was the overall high scorer with 19 for the Judges.
The Hawks sweep the home and home with Handley and improve to 2-0 on the season.
