Ohio State guy or not, I really like Mike Vrabel, he just seems like one of the good guys.

Fitz has deservedly taken some heat on this board the last few years. But he does recruit quality kids who reflect well on the program and the school.

A story from the Titans perspective. Unique man. Great representative of NU.

I thought Bears would take him when they chose not to take the DT in that position. Biggest need was LT and the guy they took was a RT (although I found out he had been LT early in his career) Being from the area I thought it would have been perfect fit. The fact that Skoronski was taken at the same position with the next pick indicates the value was there

As a Bears fan, I hope against hope that Wright works out, but either way I think they missed out on Skronk -- I see Slater and Skronk being named to multiple Pro bowl teams over the next 10 seasons.

And we cannot count out or down position coaching here.

I have seen some posters say "Fire Anderson, new OL coach needed now" and he (after coaching in the SEC and in the NFL as OL coach of the Buffalo Bills) just keeps on putting kids into the draft.

Skoronski representing NU well in his intro presser. Interesting that out of high school he was down to NU, Stanford, and N# D# as his college choice. Glad he chose NU.

Another story in The Athletic. Apparrently Peter is boring:

Former Northwestern offensive tackle Peter Skoronski was selected by the Titans with the 11th overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft. One team that passed on Skoronski was the Falcons, which may not have been a surprise given the interaction Skoronski had with the Falcons at a Combine interview.

Skoronski told Dan Pompei of TheAthletic.com that Falcons head coach Arthur Smith was openly unimpressed with him when the two talked at the Combine.

“The head coach was on me the second I got in there,” Skoronski said. “I was giving them generic answers to their questions, and he said, ‘You’re really boring me right now. Your answers are so boring.’ The whole meeting, he kept looking at his computer. I was kind of laughing to myself and said, ‘Sorry, I don’t know what you want me to do. I’m answering you honestly.’”

Skoronski also had an interview with Titans coach Mike Vrabel at the Combine, and he says he liked Vrabel’s energy. The feeling was apparently mutual, as the Titans chose the player who bored the Falcons’ coach.

Great story. The Falcons coach is an idiot. A guy like Joe Spivak is entertaining and charismatic, but who would you rather have as a player? Arthur Smith is a dope. Let's see who gets the last laugh.

By most accounts, Smith is a pretty good O mind, but that's a really dumb reason for passing over a player (not that I think the Falcons were going to pick Skoronski either way).

Dumb, but predictable.

Arthur Smith is the son of billionaire of who is desperately trying to not be seen as such. As a result, the he often gets overly defensive and acts out. There’s no doubt he’s a talented offensive mind, but is so desperate to be a “football guy” that he does some things there are just baffling. Ego is in play here big time.

He is not my cup of tea, but fortunately for him and Terry Fontenot, Arthur Blank gives his coaches and front office a long leash.

What we have seen is that he has been involved with a couple guys who were drafted in the first round (though I don't think Slater ever played for him) and another guy down at Arkansas). But you have to question whether we have seen in on the field yet. In the last couple years, overall OL unit play on the field has been disappointing. Got to remember that for us to be successful, we have to see it on the field and not by just one stud guy but the entire unit.

We have seen signs that he is descent as a recruiter and a couple guys have been high level picks but if the OL unit play does not improve, then he still might not have been the best hire. We really need him to get his group to be successful on the field
