Stop and think about this folks. Geno only had three good games as a Mountaineer. Those were the 2012 Orange Bowl, the 2012 Baylor game, and the OT win vs Marshall. If he was any kind of leader, there is no way a backup linebacker clocks him in the jaw. I realize the Jets are bad, but Geno experiment has been a failure.

Wait a minute........................................Geno was likely blindsided by said linebacker! Even a 'leader' gets clocked from this position! Dadgummit!

I guess you missed the LSU game and most of the rest of his career.

Geno did an amazing job at WVU. It was only one of the worst defenses in WVU history that caused WVU to fall in 2012 from 5-0 to 7-6. With Gibby's defense, I doubt that 2016 will see a repeat of that collapse. I certainly hope not.

I remember Geno trying to extend the play rather than run out of bounds in the loss to Syracuse in 2011. That was the loss that spelled the end of Bill Stewart. We never even showed up for the Bowl game vs NC State. We also need to remember that if not for Tron's fumble, there was no comeback win vs Marshall and the Herdiots would have never let us hear the end of it.

Only 3 good college games? Idk about that.

2012 Orange Bowl-yeah good game
Baylor had a worse defense back then than we did. Not a lot there and that game was more Stedman and Tavon making awesome catches.
Marshall was a glorified high school team that was reading our signals for 3 & 1/2 qtrs because our coaches at that time were too frigging STUPID to adjust until it was almost too late. Not a great game.

The great performance I would bring up is at Texas. He made some clutch throws. He was a decent system college qb. Trickett (when healthy) & Skylar have done pretty good too even though WVU runs more now.

Imo and I've been steady at it that Geno isn't an NFL qb. He doesn't read the defense and his leadership goes AWOL too. That game is played neck up. College is now a 1 or 2 read offensive game where the hashes make hiding defensive schemes practically impossible.

I guess I remember more the rest of 12,003 yards and 102 TDs.

What? Why do WVU 'fans' trash our all time td and yardage leader? Our D was bad much of that time. He had 102tds!
He also brought us back vs Pitt in 2011, Oklahoma game at home where he put us ahead with a great drive w under 4 minutes but our D gave up td at end. Vs tcu in 2012 when he threw td to put us ahead only to have tcu get a 90 yd td. There were many others.
His NFL is what it is. But why denigrate what he accomplished here? Can't understand our 'fans' sometimes.

Losing 6 of his last 8 games really hurt his draft stock for the 13 draft.

Geno can played QB at the NFL level. He just was never given the same opportunities that other rookies have bene given. Perhaps it would have been better to do what Fisher is doing with Goff and the Rams? Sit him until he's "ready". Instead, the Jets throw him in there and then get pissed that he isn't winning 10 games and playing perfect. Then he doesn't see the field unless injury to the starter? That's "fair"?

A. Who is Skip Bayless?
B. What kind of grown man goes by the name of "Skip"? It sounds like something a little girl would name her cat.

Skip Prosser (former Wake Forest and Wheeling Central basketball coach) and Skip Holtz who was supposed to interview for the WVU job when Fraud left.

Geno's premature drop n' slide 1 yard short of the easily attainable first down at UConn in 2010 caused WVU's only loss to the Huskies, a BCS bid and Stew his job.

May have been for the best.

So much wrong in this thread it's actually amazing.

Blaming Geno for the worst defense in school history and a head coach who had no business getting the job. See VMI.

Only had 3 good games? Truly idiotic

Ask yourself this question genius:

What would WVU's record have been during that time if Geno WASN'T the WVU QB?

Your welcome

We will find out. I dont think Geno has gotten a fair shake, but here he is now, going into a pressure free environment (Jets are 1-5, the fanbase has checked out), the "meat" of their schedule behind them, and a healthy Brandon Marshall, Matt Forte, and Quincy Enunwa at his disposal. Its not the 99 Rams, but its certainly a passable NFL supporting cast. Their D is certainly capable of holding leads so no "pressure" to force things in an effort to keep up.

If in year 4 he cannot be successful with the ingredients laid out above then he will probably never play in the NFL again. He is setup to easily go 3-1 over his next 4 games and probably have a 300 yard passing game or two with Cleveland, Miami, LA, and a banged up Ravens team on deck.
