Will his basketball maturity and physical growth require an additional year???

Should he be? Absolutely. Will he be? No chance.

Offensively hes fine. Defensively he looks like a drunk guy with concrete blocks on his feet. He litterally fouls and falls on guys

Didn't come to UK to go to college for 2 years. He will go and be 8-15 pick. Hopefully he can get some weight and strength before his first contract runs out.

The good news is that Cal will get him toughened up a lot more in the months to come.

How about we wait until March to discuss this.......unless they decided to move the NBA draft to December that is.

Skal has elite offensive skill with a very weak body and somewhat poor instincts. He will be drafted highly on that skills set alone, because there aren't many better options.

Not to pile on the kid, but I think a lot of you are underestimating just how bad of a player Skal is right now. He's not even close to being a good college player, let alone a guy who could provide anything close to serviceable minutes in the NBA. Does that mean he wouldn't get drafted? Of course not, but still, it's pretty eye-opening how far away from being good even on this level he is.

I'm glad you didn't pile on.

Not even close, huh? I've seen him make a handful of shots that no one else in the country can make.

3 weeks ago I would have laughed at the idea, but I'm starting to wonder. There's still plenty of time, and for the team's sake I hope he figures it out, but he really hasn't made any improvement so far. I'm really pulling for him to have that aha moment. We need him.

Finished with one rebound tonight. Seven footer, one rebound.

He has had 3 in 2 games. He has definitely struggled on the boards. Needs to be alot more assertive and aggressive around the rim Just doesn't seem to have that fight yet.

He's got a good stroke on his jumper, that's it. Zero inside game what so ever at this point, no rebounding skills, no fight, no toughness! Can it all change? Of course....but lets not act like hes been a game breaker up to this point! Our inside game as a whole is beyond weak, Poy, Lee all of em are weak!

He and Poythress are cut from the same cloth. Great physical tools, but they struggle to be in the moment.
We need a crazy yeller like KAT on this time. The only crazy yeller we have is Willis and sometimes Murray.

Yeah, you're eyesight might not be very good.

Did you see that pretty little lefty hook last night? Plays like that are routine for him if he gets position.

He needs to get physically stronger and mentally tougher, but the skill set is there. Everyone on the planet knows it.

I really like Skal, hopefully he improves sooner than later but my eyes are seeing a giant puss out there right now.

Based on what we've seen so far I'd say so. Would you spend millions on him as a high first round pick? But the NBA seems to always love 7 footer's and their "potential". I think he's being challenged at UK like he never has before. How's he going to respond? We'll see, but I do think he will improve significantly over the course of the season. Either that or he'll curl up and ask all those big guys to stop bullying him.

no and the reason is that you don't have to clog up your day with going to class and studying. You can work on your game constantly. if he wasn't getting drafted it would be altogether different but no. He goes. As does Briscoe, Ulis, Poythress, and Lee.

If he's gone as of today as most say then what does that say about the effort to expect from the guy? If it's a foregone conclusion then it will be tough to motivate him. I don't believe this. His game will have to change drastically from today to be in line for big money
