From Husker Extra:

>>Offensive coordinator and tight ends coach Marcus Satterfield, who worked for Rhule at multiple stops but most recently called plays for two seasons at South Carolina.

>>Defensive line coach Terrance Knighton, an eight-year NFL veteran who quickly moved into coaching after his playing career and worked for Rhule at Carolina the past two seasons.

>>Special teams coordinator Ed Foley, who worked for Rhule at Temple, Baylor and Carolina, and was once head coach for Fordham in the mid-2000s.

>>Quarterbacks coach Jake Peetz, the O’Neill native who worked this year as an assistant with the NFL’s Rams but served as offensive coordinator for LSU in 2021.

>>Defensive backs coach Evan Cooper, a former Temple player who worked for Rhule at Temple, Baylor and Carolina.

>>Running backs coach EJ Barthel, who worked with Rhule at Temple and Carolina and most recently coached Connecticut’s running backs in 2021.

Obviously leaves WR, OL, DC and LB coaches yet to be named. Likely currently involved with other teams.

And likely no holdovers from the old staff. They probably would have also been named at this time if they were staying on so to clear up any confusion on the recruiting trail.

I also suspect the DC will coach a position group like Safeties or OLB.

Rhule also confirmed that Corey Campbell is his head strength and conditioning coach. A Georgia graduate and special teams standouts for the Bulldogs from 2010 to 2013, Campbell has been attached to Rhule since 2017, when he was an assistant strength coach at Baylor. Campbell was elevated to the role of director of athletic performance at Baylor before he moved on to be the assistant strength coach for the Carolina Panthers while Rhule was there.

Seems like he is getting a lot of his old buddies back together

Yeah, hopefully he's using a huge chunk of the assistant pool to hire a great defensive coordinator. Because so far this seems like a pretty low-budget staff. Seems like he's just giving his buddies big raises like Frost did.

I think there is a method to him wanting his guys as ACs.

How does it work for the assistants let go? are they just officially done, clean out your locker and see you later? Even in Frost's case, did they make him leave the company vehicle at the stadium doors and make him get an uber home that morning?

They clean out their offices unless specifically told to stay for a while longer by the new head coach. But they still get paid according to the terms of their signed contracts which in most cases basically means they get a paid year's vacation and have a year to look for a new job.
