Take our chances on winning enough home games to make the B1G tournament…period.

Dylan is a distraction at this point, he shouldn’t practice or play until he’s a fully healthy, motivated and raring to play.

If he’s ready and able to dominate again, we could make some noise and be dangerous playing loose in the tournament.

Dylan’s kryptonite is and always has been his toughness. As soon as he’s even remotely dinged, he’s a shell of himself. Last year at Bosco he was skipping games.

He’s just not the guy to go gut it out when he’s less than 💯. Not his game.

I agree with Zap, just sit him until
he deems himself 💯. Then and only then will we have the GameChanger this team needs.

But a 70% Harper is better than JMic and Williams.

You can’t “gut out” losing 10 pounds or spraining an ankle.

This is the 2nd screw up by the staff with Dylan. Should not have been at Indiana or played against Wisconsin.

He should not have played today. That ankle injury will continue to linger.
So true.
I’m telling you this team can scare the pants off of anyone in the B1G tournament if that kid has his jump.

It’ll give us all a thrill to watch him healthy again

The problem is he has the type of injury that will take at least a couple of weeks minimum to heal and the means we will basically have played almost 75% of the schedule without a healthy Dylan

We have to win enough games to make the big ten tourney then pray for a run at full strength

So what Rich, he’s a non contributor in his current form.
Win enough at home to make the B1G tournament and sit him until he’s a time bomb of energy.

His body language and standing around is an enormous distraction

Ankle sprains have different grades. You don't know how severe his is.

Dylan has been snakebite this year. I asked this in the game thread but how many other teams have had a 20pt scorer (not to mention the best player on the court nearly game) sidelined for 6-7 conf games? I agree with OP. Rest him and bring him back only when he’s 100%. It’s a F’ng shame we haven’t had him at full strength this year

It didn’t even look like he had an ankle brace or wrap on it at all—-admittedly I don’t know much about sprains, but was at least expecting an ankle brace.

With the secrecy both Football and Basketball run their programs, Dylan’s knee could be bothering him for all we know.

And I agree, about heavy tapping and ankle brace

A low grade sprain wouldn't need a brace.

Agreed that’s what happened in the Wisconsin game and he should have never traveled to Indiana to sit on the bench when he was very sick

At this point, this really is the best strategy for Rutgers. Get Dylan healthy, sit him out, try to finish in the top 15 (which is going to a real dogfight) and then go into the conference tourney with a healthier Dylan. Sit him the next 2 or 3 games if needed to get him healthier. The season is already a bust so what do they have to lose, except more games but they’re going to lose these game anyway, just sit him and try to get him right.

Once again proving that we don’t deserve nice things. We really don’t. Love how many times this board has turned on Ace and Dylan. Truly pathetic
What nice things? Two NBA one and done players who will leave the program in way worse shape then before they came?

We had over 14k Rutgers fans at the garden today…. But wE dOnT DeSeRvE NiCe ThInGs.. give me a break.

Whats pathetic is this season.

Weird to question his toughness when he clearly shouldn't even be on the court in multiple games and tried to play anyway

Generally the toughness question is when people sit out and don't play at all
My OP didn’t question his toughness and this thread is about getting him 100 percent for a run in the tournament.

Pikiell is in a no win situation without Harper and Bailey scoring at least 40 points. The rest of the roster is composed of mostly MAC level talent who will have a occasional double digit scoring game but no real consistency. The record is now 10-10 with many of the toughest games yet to be played. There is no doubt that Harper not playing because of the flu and the ankle sprain has impacted team results. This was still a winnable game without Harper if Bailey and Martini had made some second half shots. There are simply too many flaws at both ends of the court at this late stage of the season.
