It was Kent State
NEGATIVES
No sacks
Too many negative plays(OL)
QB runs will hurt us against a good team
POSITIVES
Blitz pickups
Rbs looked good and explosive
Sellers played QB and not backyard ball

We had one sack and like 4 pressures against a mobile QB. He ran and threw it away a lot. Unfortunately, QBs play a part in pressures turning into sacks.

We were the only team in the country with a success rate over 70% for both sides of the ball week 1.

Special teams had no impact, though. That's a negative.

We did have a 2 point conversion on ST. Not sure I'd have wasted that play against Kent St.

That's a Beamer special. He always pulls out a funky 2 point play in these "money" games. Can you remember a time where he used a similar play against a real opponent?

He does like to pull one out on occasion. The first thing that came to mind was OU last year, when everyone in the stadium and the announcers were talking about a fake punt as we ran it. :(

Was that the hot dog game?

Edit: oops, no. That was the UNC game I was thinking of.

We do a 2- point conversion every opening game. Idk if it's supposed to be red meat for the fans, which is a silly reason, or to get live reps to see how the STs handle that sort of play in a real game.

I think Beamer has bought into the "Beamer Ball" thing too much. He tries so many goofy special team plays that quality opponents are rarely surprised and taken in by them.

I don't know why he runs them against the Kent States. Why go for 2? Would a 56-0 score be less impressive?

Didn't realize we had no sacks. Though they were still held to 0 points.

Ok, thanks for correcting the OP on sacks.

It was Kent State. DEs were underwhelming, unless their Tackles were all americans. How many sacks did we give up?
