I just can’t agree at all. You had an emergency fill-in team for a bowl game, days after a player intended to go pro. It was a one-time situation. Absolutely heartless, and frankly immoral verdict here.Sucks but it’s the correct call. You can’t sign with an agent and then change your mind. They either need to enforce the rule or make it like basketball.

That’s just it - an emergency bowl game invite would never happen to those programs, let alone any blue blood. We should have waited for an Alabama and Ohio State player to go through this same situation.
Unless you were at UNCSucks but it’s the correct call. You can’t sign with an agent and then change your mind. They either need to enforce the rule or make it like basketball.

Kid gave the money back to his agent. NCAA is a joke. The hypocrisy of this ruling is epic.Sucks but it’s the correct call. You can’t sign with an agent and then change your mind. They either need to enforce the rule or make it like basketball.
I just saw a comment online that RU is still going to try another route to get him eligible. Anyone know what that is ?
safer bet would be for him to transfer to NCHire North Carolina's legal team.
All this confirms is there is absolutely a two sided NCAA decision making process. There are perhaps hundreds of prior examples of athletes being granted waivers for even more egregious violations. Yes he signed with an agent and yes he was injured and yes he did reimburse the agent. If this were NC or another higher profile school with influence then a kid like Singleton is given a pass . We need a ground swell movement to show how many similar or worse violations have occurred and where the ruling was in favor of the student athlete. In these times it would be more than acceptable and right.
Hire Ben Mauk's legal staff.I just saw a comment online that RU is still going to try another route to get him eligible. Anyone know what that is ?
My understanding is there is leeway depending on extenuating circumstances. I thought what Schiano had to say regarding extenuating circumstances was quite reasonable. Terrible decision but if this is the future, just expand the CFB playoffs and eliminate the bowl games. I'm not traveling halfway across the country to watch an exhibition where my team's best players don't participate.Sucks but it’s the correct call. You can’t sign with an agent and then change your mind. They either need to enforce the rule or make it like basketball.
No it doesn’t . Ncaa sucks. You can’t sign with an agent before a bowl game most of the time. We backed/lucked into a bowl game without earning it on the field. This ruling sends a clear message to any potential NFL player. Don’t play in a bowl game.
If you get hurt there are no second chances with us.
The NCAA loves to create problems for themselves and college football. I hope the kid sues the sh## out of them!
To my knowledge Rutgers is the first fill in team for a bowl game.I’m sure they won’t be those last.Is there an example of a larger profile program getting an approval in this situation?
um.. aren't they allowed to have NIL agents now? I don't know for sure.. but I am sure I read somehting that sounded like it.Sucks but it’s the correct call. You can’t sign with an agent and then change your mind. They either need to enforce the rule or make it like basketball.
Ben Mauk has nothing on him. Ben petitioned to play a 6th year and was denied.um.. aren't they allowed to have NIL agents now? I don't know for sure.. but I am sure I read somehting that sounded like it.
Some people get 7 years.. but not Drew
I thought everyone got an extra CoVid year... so it is really only his NFL declaration and then Rutgers getting a bowl game that screwed him. That's terrible. He isn't even an academic disqualifier.Ben Mauk has nothing on him. Ben petitioned to play a 6th year and was denied.
2003 redshirt at WF
2004: played in 10 at WF
2005: played in 10 at WF
2006: injured in first game at WF
2007: transferred and played at Cincinniati
2008: denied
He only played 3 seasons, but the rules were different then.
Noah Vedral is in his 6th year. He played each of his six years (assuming he plays this year), but covid was a free year, and he played only 1 game his sophomore year.
Singleton:
2017: Did not play at all at Michigan
2018: played in 7 at Michigan
2019: played in all 12 at Rutgers
2020: Played i all 9 at Rutgers (covid year)
2021: Played in all 13 games.
I understand why he was denied, but guy played 4 years, one of them being a free covid year. He should hire a lawyer and sue like Ben Mauk did.
It just plain sucks. I get it, what harm would be done in having a little flexibility in the rules?I thought everyone got an extra CoVid year... so it is really only his NFL declaration and then Rutgers getting a bowl game that screwed him. That's terrible. He isn't even an academic disqualifier.
Not that you did it on purpose.. but that list of playing 4 in 5 was a common end to a career PRE-CoVid.. now it is 6 to play 5 for everyone who teams want and who wants to play and was in football for the CoVid season.
I say we play him anyway and sometime next year the NCAA can void all our wins.Sorry that I'm not up to speed: Though Singleton had signed with an agent, he was allowed to play in the bowl game but that one game only?
