This program has been mediocre at best. What has to happen to get back on top? I know that the obvious answer is the coach, but it more than that. The fans have been patient in my opinion. They might boo and complain, but they still show up. I’m ready to get excited about watching games again.

Just takes the right coach. Ask us about Calipari, Miami with Lucas, Michigan with Dusty May, Vanderbilt with Byington, UT with Barnes, Auburn with Pearl, Alabama with Oats. It's really that simple. Pope needs and should be fired. He's not ready for this job. Shouldn't have been offered. It's almost February and we have 0 recruits.

So much wrong with the program:

-Athletic Administration (Mitch)
-A head coach that is on the level of this program and can handle every aspect from recruiting to coaching to expectations/pressure.
-NIL. Whether it be JMI, whether it being incorrectly using JMI or something else. It’s clear our plan doesn’t seem to be working here. (A HC that can recruit may fix this)
-Even something like our “home court advantage” needs attention. Sure Rupp gets rockin, but it takes a good team coming in to get that way, and even then, it can get quiet at times.

These are just the obvious things. My hope is that falling well below expectations for so long will force whoever is making the decisions to make a home run hire for the next HC. My fear is that football has become king (money maker) and the athletic admins will place priority there and we slip into the Indiana basketball trap of mediocrity. I want football to be good, but basketball is my heart. I also understand the bottom line matters. Hope they can find a good balance and be very good in both.

All of this to say that I think Mark Pope is a rockstar human being and I want him to succeed in the worst way. I would feel comfortable with him being a mentor to my son…but that doesn’t win ball games, and ultimately that’s what he is here to do. Rant over…lol

Rupp is a dinosaur in 2026. We should build a 15-17k seat arena on campus.

This.

In 2007 UK was pretty much dead. We had a roster of Bobby Perry's and Sheray Thomas'es. Tubby left and UK went on an incredible rise over the next three years.

Always thought that was weird for the “top” program to not have a on campus arena. It’s college ball. Get a damn arena on campus good grief.

Rupp arena is cemented. Let it continue to host whatever events and be a legendary venue. History is in that gym just like the one before it.

A new gym could really be a big deal for this program. On campus gym. College ball. Nvm makes to much sense.

Crazy thing is I loved those teams. They weren’t doing what this team did. Even with players like that I remember my whole family had passion about UK ball. It was just different. Not sure what happened over the years.
