Williams isn’t a “one dimensional player”, he’s a specialist

Guys like him are tough to find
He has the natural ability for sure. His leaving also makes the least sense of the group. I find it amusing that he complained 50% of Husker fans were negative towards him on social media after announcing he is gone.

Now someone should figure out what south Florida players are in the portal. Specifically dlineman. This guy should be a recruiting monster in Florida now that we gave him his first coaching gig. Can't say how much I love this move.

Interesting. As HBK4Life posted much earlier...

"You would think a hire like this would not be made without the DC consent. I have to assume Rhule knows who his DC will be."

I don’t think this is the case. With unlimited coaches the new guy can still bring his own guys too. I think Phil is just a stud recruiter Rhule wanted on staff any way he could get him.

Would say at this point the likelihood is Butler

If Simpson is a deal breaker for our new DC, we don't want that DC.

I believe the words used by most on here was these guys we are losing are replaceable. Still the case
Exactly. They're replaceable but we still need to replace them hopefully with a better dude or two. Guys like Butler didn't keep opposing OCs up at night. Good but not great player IMO. At the very least we need depth there.

If so, why not name him now and fill out the rest of the staff if there are gonna be additional changes?
It would seem pretty obvious that he's either a fall back option OR that he may want to go back to the NFL after the bowl game.

Who are the great players out there we can get?

Pretty easy looking at the AP top twenty. They are coached-up though, so it might be pretty hard here.
How many AP top 20 QBs with accuracy and the legs are in the portal? You sure that it would be pretty easy to replace DR? Cuz I have my doubts…

Chubba Purdy was a 5.8 4 star #8 dual threat QB. He's available. Ran for over a thousand and passed for over 2000 his senior year. 4.5 forty...... He's in the portal. 🤔

I can't imagine how short sighted you have to be to want to replace DR.
He's going to be flirting with other teams every year. He did this year, which is why he had to reaffirm his commitment. This is just my opinion, but I'd like our starting QB to actually want to be here for the long term, with money not being the major factor which is enticing him.

Exactly.....It's 2024. Better adapt or get left behind.

I'm fine with DR.

Just saying all things bring equal give me the mobile QB in college.

Would have been the difference in about 2 or 3 games this year.
