I believe he could be good. Need to finalize the DC I would think. They might have somebody hired but are waiting to announce it until after games tomorrow.
The fact that it says "edge rushers" tells me that they know who the DC is going to be. It may also be an indication that the DC could be coaching DTs. Also could indicate that a 4 man front may be in the future, you don't need 1 coach to coach a few Jack backers (term used by White).

I am sure it is a coincidence but Elijah Robinson also has a position coach titled "Edge"

He's a recruiter. From Florida. Works for me.

Edit: Here's how you coach an edge rusher - "Go get the Quarterback!" Done.

We’re no doubt going to continue to play a lot of 4 man fronts. Rhule repeated again that he wants to stick with the 3-3-5 but as many have pointed out, it really doesn’t matter what you call your base D.

He never used the numbers 3-3-5. He said I like our defense and how we run it.

I don’t know about his coaching prowess but he’s the guy that got Barney, Mcgahee, Shavers, out of Florida for us, I think… he’s at least worth a look.
Don’t let that get in the way of perpetual fvcking whining. Folks can pivot any post to bitching about Rhule.

And or any word or terminology if it's not the exact word they would use although the meaning close or the same

Hell yes. Phil is a heck of a recruiter. Big reason we got McGahee, Barney and Shavers.

I think Rhule has got a handle on this. All the crying and hand wringing isn't going to change things either way. My bet is when it's all said and done most of will be excited about the future.

And there are unlimited coaches. He's replacing Jack Potenza, who 95 percent of fans probably don't know who he was on White's staff. With Moze on O and Simpson on D, we will have a couple of ace recruiters.

Correct. He owned Florida, particularly Miami, for us. He may be able to coach rush ends but he's worth bringing back just for his crootin' chops.

If he can bring in that type of talent from Florida i dont care. We can find somebody else to coach em!

Might as well make a guy an on-field coach who would have been just an 'analyst' previously. Would certainly have more clout with recruits that way.

I legit would take Simpson over Knighton. Ty, Nash and Butler were already here. Simpson can actually recruit and has good connections in FL. Again, the most important part about assistants is recruiting imo.

And we can get a little bit of payback on FSU.
Basically you are saying FSU wanted to keep Simpson? No offense to Simpson, but I am pretty sure Florida State could give two ***** about losing him. As I explained to my buddies who said "Everybody has to deal with this, it is the way college football is now." The difference is we are losing the coaches we wanted to keep, and the players we wanted to come back. Opposed to losing a 5^ freshman that didn't get any playing time at Texas or Alabama. We are losing what made our team respectable. That is not good, and is NOT what is happening elsewhere. Starters stay and the talent that isn't getting meaningful playing time leave. Texas may lose one or two, but not like us. Emmett Johnson, Princewill, Gbayor, Butler, Lenhardt etc... are players you build around... you don't replace them.

Florida State was a joke this year, so I am fairly confident we are doing Simpson a favor not vice versa, because I don't think FSU was wanting anyone back from this years debacle of coaching staff. Everything that is happening right now is NOT good, and it may look fine after we hire someone new, but sorry folks I don't care if we get Bill Belichick to be our Defensive Coordinator. What is happening is what is wrong with our team and we will continue to SUCK *** without consistency.

I guess I look at it differently. We are losing players that made Nebraska average. Does there need to be an upgrade in player ability? Clearly. But let's not act like we are losing all conference caliber players either.

I see all those players I mentioned as being possible All Conference type players in the future

Well Princewell was already passed over by McGahee, so he wasn't going to be all league, Lenhardt hasn't announced he is headed to the portal as of now. Emmett Johnson was never going to be an all league player in the Big Ten at Nebraska. Gbayor and Butler are exactly what I am talking about with regards to long term players that have made Nebraska average.

I think we need to draw the distinction between good player and good player for a 6-6 Nebraska team.

Whoa. It can be worse than 6 wins but let's not act like these are day 1 picks we are losing. Yes, it concerning, but these are not irreplaceable players.

Simpson is a proven, dynamite Miami recruiter. How many freshman played this year? 5? 6? How many were Simpson guys? 3. That isn't random. This guy would be a very smart hire.

We were not keeping TW for long regardless.and Pot Roast didn’t like Lincoln or Nebraska in general because of the Weather or social activities. Pot roast was likely leaving with White. As for the players this is the 2nd time Jamari jumped to the portal. How well did he like it here ? Williams left because of Pot Roast. Princewell was leaving regardless.EJ thinks the grass is greener somewhere else. He will find out it is always not the case. The rest were 105 cuts .
