If only..... what I do not want to happen is to for him to turn us down again. Talk about egg on the face. But maybe he won't if he realizes that he has a chance to return UK to the glory days of Calipari (early UK career), Pitino and Rupp.

It’s never been the right time for Donovan to be here imo but it’s finally lining up.

2007: He was never coming here fresh off back to back titles (which is why it was crazy to think Hurley would two years ago)

2009: He knew he was going to Orlando (which he did and then famously had cold feet)

2024: I believe this was the first REAL time that we could’ve gotten him and then Mitch sacrificed the next 10 years because of not wanting to wait until the NBA season was over with the portal open just so we could build a mediocre team with an unqualified alumnus (gimme a 14-14 struggle year ala Pitino, knowing that it’s BLUE SKIES after that all day every day!)

2027: Finally, potentially not having to wait for him to finish out the NBA season, plus Kentucky whiff whiff whiffing on recruits and having another mid year. The stars MIGHT finally be aligning for a 10 year Billy D run to close out his HOF career! Hopefully we have a competent AD to cash in on this!
