Saw that after the bye week we are:

#12 - Total Offense
#44 - Total Defense

Kind of hilarious what our record is with those numbers...

Not sure if you can find it but what are the records of teams with stats similar to NU? I would imagine pretty solid.

Are the offense and defense rankings in yards/game? As yards does not equal points obviously.

Player execution in crunch time. That is the difference along with ST.

Think about this. We are # 12 in offense and have the worst OL in the last 30 years and possibly ever at Nebraska. Says a lot about the offense, coaches included, everyone bitches about. It also says a lot about players ability because you do not get to # 12 with out good players. It all comes down to execution on crunch time. You either have it or don't. AM doesn't have that in his game.

Yep. Exactly what I was highlighting. As much as we want to ***** about things, you don't get to those levels not doing some things right. Adrian just doesn't have the clutch gene. Still a long way to go on the season, but it is refreshing that our D is now 44th in total D from where this thing started. Since 2014 our D has been laughable. It's great to be able to say Blackshirts and have the announcers mention the Blackshirts without some sort of joke or chuckle calling them that. Are they fully back? Absolutely not, but our D has put us in position to win basically every game this year.

Think what the D would be like if the offense would hold up their end and score points. Opponents would be more predictable because they would be behind and trying to catch up vs playing ball control where the defense is a bit more predictable.

Red Zone Offense- #106
Horrendous! And that's with playing against 4 weak defenses one being a FCS school and Buffalo..

This boils down to offensive play-calling in the RED ZONE and NOT having a clutch game winning QB or having CONFIDENCE in him to make the same plays he made between the 20's!!

The offensive RED ZONE play caller should be FIRED! When is the last time Nebraska ranked over a 100th in RED ZONE offense???

Fun fact: in the Frost era, teams that held NU under 300 yards rushing and scored more than 21 points by my count went 22-2 against us.
Basically slow down the running game, score a moderate amount of points and you will win.
The exceptions were the PSU and Purdue games last year where both teams had less than 14 points well into the third quarter.

There are stats that aren't accounted for that I think we are pretty brutal at and account for a LOT of our woes.

Penalties that lead directly to a punt. (Drive killers)
Misreads by a QB in RPO.
Misreads by a QB in a passing game.
Missed blocks by O-Line.
Is there a way to account for insane play calling? Like running shotgun at the goal line?

And just weird *** plays that aren't really accounted for. Like running backwards to the end zone and getting an intentional grounding. Sure it means 2 points and is accounted there but it should be counted as a turnover.

Missing an open dump off man to throw a uncatchable yolo bomb is worse than a penalty that causes the loss of a down. Why? Because there could be an interception.

We look at our stats and see that we compare favorably to a lot of good teams, but I see a LOT of weird *** decision making.

I also know are penalties are better overall but boy do we make them count. We should call them inopportune penalties. When we least need a penalty, we will somehow miracle one forth.

What all of these come down to is coaching.

Well in 2019 we finished #115.

As some Frost lovers would want you to believe…being #106 this year now that’s progress. We are so so so close.

Horrible! You gotta love how the ",progress" meter is measured in Nebraska.

One WIN improvement, ...PROGRESS.

Lose 75% of your games but don't get blown out.....PROGRESS!

Wife cheats on hubby 5 times last month but only 4 times this month.....PROGRESS!!

The number of missed FGs is what is dropping the RZ offense numbers. Nebraska ranks 7th in RZ opportunities, and are 6 for 12 in FG attempts on the year. If the FG kicker makes the same % as last year, he would be 10 for 12. Potentially 4 additional RZ scores. Puts Nebraska at the 52nd in RZ offense. While not great is significantly better.

The question is, how much of a difference in the record that would make.
