So I take it that he committed to the coaches at some point during the process but never came out publicly?

Weird for someone to do this when they never committed publicly.

my guess is neb pulled his offer
Yeah that's the most likely scenario here. Maybe he had an offer of some sort, but committed on his own a little before the Huskers were ready to take the commitment. And now he's got to get out there and find a place for himself since the door at NU appears to be closed.

We didn't know who he was, or that the coaches offered him, or that he committed - but we wanted him. Now that he has decommitted, we still don't know who he is, we don't know that the coaches really did offer, or that he really did commit - but we really didn't want him anyway.

I wonder if he'd consider hiring me as his agent. I'm guessing the NFL is next for him. A legend in his own mind is born.

"Weird for someone to do this when they never committed publicly."
Agree with this comment. Why "decommit" publicly when you didn't commit publicly? Just to let people know you once thought about it?

Secret commitments are not really commitments at all.

So does this mean we'd take both Cam Taylor and Jones now? I think Jones announces today.

"This" has no affect on other players. Was not an accepted commit and not in the numbers. He was a Plan C guy that might have gotten green light on NSD IF other plans fell through.

My guess is he was told he would not be getting the go ahead to commit, hence "reopening" his recruitment.

Iowa kind of had an embarrassing moment for a recruit this year too. The kid committed via Twitter without telling the coaches. Once they found out, he had to decommit on Twitter that same night since he hadn’t visited campus yet. (From Florida). As surprising as it is, he ended up signing with Iowa in the end.

I wonder if this kid is using it as a tool to improve his stock? Hoping that some schools will say, “Well if Nebraska was gonna take him, maybe we should offer him.”

***Edit*** I was thinking of the wrong kid. He ended up signing with FIU. Got my tall black WR’s from Florida mixed up. It’s not too often they actually come to Iowa.

Yeah was an odd deal. You got the impression there was a misunderstanding regarding whether it was a "committable" offer and he and pops were like, "Sweet, we're N!" Then the coaches probably had to call them up like, "Hey, so about your tweets...we need to talk..."
