It’s because they play on an artificial turf field. Sunflower seeds and gum are prohibited on all artificial turf fields.

I'd ignore that sign.

Trying to enforce such a policy at a baseball field is simply unreasonable.

Somebody name a baseball player that doesn't eat sunflower seeds, chew tobacco/dip snuff or chew gum.

I'd guess there are a few outliers . . . maybe 1 out of 100 players?

I haven't watched a vandy game in a long while but seemed like the whistler was there the whole game but significantly less obnoxious than I last remembered. Did they get the guy(s) to dial it back some?

Don’t know if this is still the case, but under Cohen there was a team rule not allowing anyone to spit sunflower seeds over the rail of the dugout onto the field.
