You mean except for the fact that you are only making about 24K per year and you have to bus it to games, and sleep in flea bag motels..other than that, D league is great.

I would take the 175-300K tax free and play overseas over D league, and if I was good enough to make an NBA roster, they would certainly be able to find me in Europe playing as much as they would find me in the D league.

you still have to pay taxes on money made overseas. If the country you make the money in doesn't tax you to the max the you would pay in the states, you pay it to the US government. There is more to it then that, but you pay the taxes.

Really? Even if you become a resident of that country? Would you have to give up your US citizenship?

Yep, you'd have to give up US citizenship to not pay US taxes. Taxes you pay in the nation you make the money in count toward the taxes you would need to pay in the US. US is one of the few(maybe the only?) countries that does this.

It gets confusing, I just hire a firm that does international work.

In a recent interview, White has said right now his options are NBA or Nebraska. Of course that could change, but it sounds like he'll take as much possible time to make his decision. I think the deadline is May 24th to withdraw from the draft.

I have an incredibly hard time believing White is being told he's going to get drafted. The longer this goes on, the more I doubt he really wants to come back.

I don't think he's aa as naive enough to think he will be drafted after not being invited to the combines. But I think he probably wants to hear from teams about the best path toward getting on a team. If that includes playing his senior season or a D League or Europe. Frankly the NBA doesn't care about Nebraska and they may say his best shot to get to the show belongs in the D League.

We will find out in a couple weeks.

I firmly believe he needs one more year of Big 10 basketball. He wasn't consistent enough from game to game. If he ops for the D league he might find himself riding the pine. No playing time won't get him to the NBA. He's really only had one year of college ball where he played a lot of minutes...

Lets see. He already has graduated. He can get paid to play while traveling around and not going to class........plus he's in the pipeline to maybe get called up to the big show.....IMO that's a tough decision but it largely will depend on economics versus playing another year with some friends. With degree in hand, It would be tough to turn down money for playing basketball IF he's sure he'll get signed to the D league. IMO, most NU fans over estimate his abilities. He's a pretty good spot up shooter that goes through cold spells and has trouble creating his own shots. He's an average at best defender that should probably play the 2 but has trouble guarding other more athletic 2s. He's also a reasonably good rebounder IMO. His ball handling is average at best for a 2 and he's may not be big enough to play the 3. Don't get me wrong, I think he would be a huge loss for the Huskers, but his pro potential is not as great as some think. You have to be a pretty fantastic player to make the league at his size.
