I’d rather attempt the opposite Mildy.^^^^
They have a great back, I’d base my defense on stone walling him and pray.
It’s awful getting dominated up front and allow the whole country to think we’re milquetoast.
Let em throw, maybe we’ll get lucky or actually put pressure on the QB.
Giants Carl Banks said if you can’t stop the run or the pass, choose one to stop.
Schiano-coached teams always try to stop the run first. My point is that we cannot be overly aggressive about that because we have relatively inexperienced and/or injured LBs and DBs. Since the injuries in the Wisconsin game (I think it was), every time we get aggressive about shooting gaps to stop the run in the backfield, we get gashed for big yards either by missing the tackle or by the play not being the run we expected and winding up with a pass over the middle that our LB mistakenly vacated.
So I'm pretty sure we'll try to stop the run first, but not with lots of LB or DB aggression. It'll be sitting back, fitting gaps, and trying to limit yards rather than stopping the play in the backfield.
Had we been fully healthy, I think we'd have been seeing lots more aggression from the D, with many more stops in the backfield.
If we're healthier than I expect, this might all be out the window and we might see more aggression. Anyway, we'll see soon enough.
