I don’t know about y’all but I’m excited about next year. That team is going to be so exciting and will play fast. The floor will be spread and a lot of points will be scored. I just want Zion to be our Draymond Green. We will have 2 players that can go get a shot whenever they want and both are pretty y’all for their positions. Zion will be guarded by forwards that are too slow or small ball 4s that aren’t big enough to handle him. I hope he’s as good as people say. I’m not really a believer yet but if he is what they say he is then next year will be fun.

Having these loaded recruiting classes kind of eases the pain of losing in the tournament because we always have a future to look towards. I rather do it this way than not recruit one and dones and have to go through a year of rebuilding. We are literally reloading. It’s hard to win titles in college basketball. That tournament is lose and go home. One bad shooting night and the best team can lose to a team that has no business beating them. Eventually one of these freshmen classes will breakthrough and win. I still think Coach K should let them play more and call less plays during games. They’ll be more comfortable and play freely. I’m hype about next season though.

I'm interested to see what this new batch can do, and seeing how K will do with no senior leader. We will win some games, probably be high energy, but our lack of experience will be our doing in.
Don't care to hear how lucky you are to win it, the fact remains you must have veterans to lead you to the promise land.

I'll be excited when the time comes. I'm now looking forward to The Masters, the NBA playoffs, more golf majors and my own golf game. We don't get a long summer in Minnesota....so I'm not wishing the time away. There's lot of golf and cabin time between now and then.

We're going to be good. How good? That's the big question. We still have a few things unanswered between now and October....luckily we should get some of those answers in the coming month or two.

It's always a good time to be a Duke fan.

It looks like we are finally getting past the cold weather and getting some golf temps here, so of course now, it seems like it rains almost everyday. I am so ready for the links. E do a golf / camping trip at Dale hollow soon. Golf, then pontoon, then campsite with campfire ribs and cold beer! Love it!!

I still remember absolutely FREAKING OUT when Zion committed. Took me completely by surprise. My wife came running down stairs saying "what's wrong, what's wrong?"........me: NOTHING is wrong. We got Zion!!!! Her: "What's a Zion?"

I was sitting in a Bob Evans with the fam. Was watching on my phone and I started yelling, are you kidding me!? Our waitress walked over and asked if everything was ok. My wife was rolling laughing and told the lady it was ok. I was a sports fan and just got great news.

Uh, one of these freshman classes did. Like, just a few years ago.

Well yeah but that's over. I'm talking going forward. Next year we will be even more dependent on freshmen that ever before. Barrett and Cam may not come out the game at all this year

I am very excited for next year. The biggest issue is obviously relative inexperience - but outside of that, my primary concern is shooting. I don't know if any of those guys is considered a consistent three-point shooter. Maybe that is just fresh in my mind after a weekend of 12-53 from the three point line.

No matter what, it should be a fun year.

It's fun to think of how much Javin, AOC, and hopefully Bolden will improve and perhaps assert themselves as leaders. Even Goldwire seems to have some leadership ability if he can improve.

We forget that the team down the road has stayed relevant not with one and dones, but with lower ranked players who improved over the years. I'd like our guys to do the same thing. Our coaches are better than theirs so why not?

Yeah no team has ever won the whole thing starting 4 or 5 freshmen. That was our challenge this year and it appears it will be the same challenge next year.

So which recruiting class is better? Last year with Bagley or this year? Idk for some reason I can’t get as excited about this recruiting class because the one we just had seemed like we had everything and more. Especially with two monsters that can shoot and rebound, we looked like a NBA team with what we had. The most talented team in the country by far.
On paper or video, I haven’t seen anything that gets me excited enough to believe that this years recruiting class will be better than what we’ve just seen on the court.
I know you guys have more insight on top recruits. May I lack insight or maybe I’m talking from a place of discouragement. I’m not saying that The incoming class won’t be better. I’m just saying that I haven’t seen anything that excites me compared to what we’ve just witnessed.

I "think" what we will have next year is a better shooting point guard. Not knocking Duval. I also think a lot of times this year, we were to clogged up in the lane, which made it more difficult to penetrate, and sometimes more difficult to get the ball in there. I believe we will spread the floor more next year, and be more difficult to prepare for.

Roster versatility will be the difference next year. We won’t be as big but we will be more athletic across the board. We will have 2 high level players that can get a bucket whenever they want in iso situations. They don’t mind passing the ball either. We will be harder to guard next year. This year we were bigger than everybody. We will overwhelm people in a different way. A team has to worry about a guard trying to stop Reddish and Barrett. I hope all of them work on a post game. We will be more efficient on offense. Rebounding may not be as dominant though

We will be super young next year, in terms of NCAA experience. It helps that Tre will be more of a natural leader and PG than Trevon. More than likely we will be heavy on guards and forwards with AOC(high energy, athletic and sweet shooting stroke) playing a role along with JGold (solid backup). Jack and JRob can play the 4, and I hope both continue to grow as players. Vrank is pretty talented for a guy who has yet to see much PT. It will be nice if Marques comes back as he should to prove what he started to show towards the end of the year is who he really is.

Maybe my forecast is modest

With Bolden
Ceiling: Title
At-least: 2017 team meaning possibly win 1 ACC trophy + Sweet 16

Without Bolden
I envision the 2016 team. Goal would be Sweet 16. Anything beyond that in the Tourney or ACC is highly appreciated

Last year
- Sr leader with big game experience
- Double/doubles from both of the 4 & 5
- extremely athletic, crafty PG
- Fr, Bagley, 1st All American, Player of the Year guy
- Zone team

This coming year
- PG with a very high game IQ
- long, versatile wing players

Looking at it on paper 17-18 is a better team when you consider 2 stud bigs, & Trent/Grayson with 3pt shooting ability.

16/17 had no true point guard and we will never know what they could have been bc they weren't 100% healthy
Looking at it just from depth & again Harry wasn't healthy, but this team is 8 deep and better (on paper) than 17/18.

I think this upcoming team may fit the college game more. Jones is the one I'm most curious about. If he is truly at his brothers level then look out. I think, and this is not bashing K necessarily, but the offense this past year was so vanilla. One because it worked and two, they were young. But more than just being young a lot of the guys seemed to be a little limited with their ability to play as a team. Bagley, Duval, and Trent were all a little selfish/sloppy at times in the team game. They could make the flashy play but didn't make the routinely simple plays. Also, their skills sets, along with GA, didn't mesh. Carter and Bags were too similar to flow with only one year together. Duval couldn't shoot much and GA and Trent couldn't do the good things Duval could do. It had all the parts, but not the mesh. And honestly idk if they'd ever have meshed. More time would've helped, but may not have fixed things. This next team seems to be more likely to mesh to me, although not a talented on an individual basis.

I agree with you I'm ready for the Masters. I would hate to have to pick a winner because the top players are all playing well. With Tiger back It will make it interesting.
