I know this is a basketball board but I have a full thickness tear partial width in my left supraspinatus tendon. The doctor that I am being recommended to in Louisville has mixed reviews at BEST.
If anyone has any info concerning a surgeon who specializes in shoulders in the Kentucky area with great results, I would be greatly appreciative.
Also, if I UK athlete gets a similar injury who would treat them?
Thanks guys!

Hope it all works out ok for you.

I'm having work done for a torn meniscus on the left knee. Now it matches the right!

Getting older sucks sometimes.

Dr Jarod Smith at kdmc in Ashland. He’s worked with James Andrews the famous shoulder dr for mlb players. Great guy too

Isn't Andrews more a knee specialist? Not saying he could or couldn't do shoulders just see his name more with knee injuries I think

Research the orthopods that the baseball teams are using. They’ll know the best shoulder cutters in the business.

James Andrews M.D. is an American orthopedic surgeon. He is a surgeon for knee, elbow, and shoulder injuries and is a specialist in repairing damaged ligaments. Practicing in Alabama, Andrews has become one of the most well known and popular orthopedic surgeons and has performed on many high-profile athletes. Wikipedia

I wasn’t 100% sure so I googled him. Lol
I just know they’ve worked together

Dr. Mark Smith is the best orthopedic shoulder guy in the entire state. If you take time to talk with any of the rehab clinics they will tell you the same thing. Your search should be over as I have had two rotator cuff surgeries and Mark Smith did my last one and could not have been more pleased with the results. Call me at 502-558-0191 should I have questions. Name is Garry.

Most.. Important.. Thing..

Do your PT or you'll just waste your time having surgery..
Had my right shoulder fixed on a partial tear,, went to PT 3 times n thought I didn't need it anymore.. Was pain free.. For about a month and now in same pain as prior.. Shooting my 338 LM 2 weeks after surgery probably didn't help either.. It kicks like a mule..

Thanks for the suggestions. If anyone has any other info they can pass on I would appreciate it. However, I will reach out to Dr. Smith since I live near Louisville. We actually are in between Louisville and Lexington so both cities are ideal.

Smith is ok. Two best are Ryan Krupp and Scott Kuiper. This is from An outpatient ortho PT who has treated post-op shoulder patients.
