Success at the end of the season seemed to say so. If so, then might be a better fit for run blocking suited OL, backs and current roster QBs.

Since this is a message board and your asking a question just to get opinions from fans I will answer. Yes I think WVU should. The offense looked so much more efficient during the 4 game winning streak being a run first offense and only throwing around 20 times a game. Its a better scheme for the players WVU has. I love the spread option out of Dana's air raid formations. I would love to have the season over again running a committed 60-40 run based offense. Hopefully Dana tweaks his offense based on the success WVU had this season. Keeping Skyler on a "pitch count" of around 20-25 pass attempts makes this offense more explosive IMO because of using the run to set up the pass and taking shots at the right time. I'm willing to bet Dana and staff look back on this season and say what we did in November gives WVU the best chance to win no matter who we play. I think we will see more of a commitment to the I Formation next season in short yardage to get our backs running down hill. Smallwood is a very good and highly versatile back, She'll is just a different player running out of the I Formation.
No, they should morph more into Baylor. We had a great passing game before, we got a great running game now, we just need to have them work at a high level at the same time
I think we did better this year, as compared with most past Novembers, because we had a more solid running game. Northern teams are better off with strong running games. That's not to say if we have QBs/WRs like we had with Geno/Tavon/Stedman that we toss it around some more, but generally speaking, teams in northern climates are better off having staunch defenses and solid ground games.
Throw in the fact that we need to be different to be successful in the Big 12, I think a 60/40 run/pass ratio is the wise way to go.

If you can run the FB, you should run the FB. All great coaches know and understand the importance of running the FB. What did Woody Hayes say about passing?
There is nothing worse in FB for a defense than getting continually pushed back by a good running game. It punishes a defense and wears them out and beats them up. It pounds them into the ground. It demoralizes them. Running FB is attack FB. It also keeps your own defense off the field and fresh and helps you manage the clock.
On the other hand, passing offenses are defensive offensive. The O-line is always moving back trying to protect the QB with the opposing defense serving out the punishment. Furthermore, passing offensives are fickle. Windy days, rain, and snow all can greatly impact your ability to pass the ball effectively. A team that can effectively pressure your QB will force many errors, such as fumbles, interceptions, over throws, under throws, bad reads, etc.
So, if DH is smart, yes, he will look seriously at changing his offensive to be a more effective running offensive. In fact, making this change, just might save his job..

Oh yeah, in the Big 12 our best option to win.....but have a qb that can consistently make the short throws on third down. Which we don't have as now....A dual threat qb would help Holgs greatly.....

My answer is, Yes, we should. We have always been better as a run oriented team. Truth be told, I enjoy watching a run oriented team better too (not that that matters one bit). I think our personel would be excellent going back to something close to thr RR run option spread offense. For the likes of me, I never figured out why Stew took us away from it. Say what you want, but he screwed our program up in many ways.
