Can't really see her getting meaningful minutes for the next two years.
She will finally be the starting 5 her senior year. Maybe.
I think there are others that can spell Ava.

There's a depth problem today. Otherwise yeah, it probably would have been advisable.

No.. despite the struggles it’s good that she’s getting minutes and we need a backup big even if it’s just someone that has fouls in case Ava and Stuelke are in foul trouble.
agree, but she has a long way to go IMO

I think Hays will be much better next year as a result of the playing time she got this year.

I know there can be value in preserving a year of eligibility, but I think there is a world of difference in how players grow and develop when they are gaining experience in actual games. There is also a different urgency in how an athlete approaches practice when they know they will be (or might be) playing the next day.

She's from Wasilla, Alaska, a town of less than 10,000 people 3,400 miles away. She played in a gym that seats 550 people.

I can't imagine the transition from being in HS there to college in Iowa City playing in the B1G in front of 15,000 fans.

Give her some time.

Nice to see the instant gratification crowd hasn't missed a beat:rolleyes:
Damn some of you need to chill. The game needs to slow down for MOST froshmen.
Yes Clark was an anomoly.
Agree. We needed her to get some minutes this year. Ava can be foul prone and Hannah can only play so many minutes at Pieer Forward as well as backup Center. Clearly she has a lot to work on. No different than a lot of bigs in both men and women’s. I expect a big jump probably not next year but hopefully the next. We desperately need a backup Center. Hopefully she keeps working hard and transforms the body a bit and becomes a bit more athletic. Time will tell.

She's 6 foot 5 right? She's seen valuable gametime experience this year, the kind you can't teach in practice. Someone else provided Meghan and Czinano's stats as a frosh. With Jan's tutelage, she'll be fine. Heck, look at Ava's improvement.
Hays looked better earlier, IMHO. I don't know if she's hit the freshman wall, if she's thinking too much now rather than just reacting, but I do believe she's capable of being an above average player, maybe even yet this year. Remember how Ava exploded right at the end of last season . . .
