I haven't really seen this subject mentioned much, but I pose the question: in light of the Moorhead fiasco, should Cohen be fired? I was skeptical when Cohen was hired as A.D. Except for the revisionist history that claims he has instrumental in Mullen being hired, Cohen had absolutely nothing on his resume to suggest that he should have been hired as athletic director. I was concerned when he was hired that his hiring was based more on cronyism and/or nepotism than ability, because not one of the other 129 FBS schools would have even granted him an interview, much less hired him.
There were many reasons to question the Moorhead hire when it was made. His lack of experience in the SEC and his lack of knowledge about the south were major concerns to me. When Moorhead is fired, it will potentially cost MSU millions for Cohen's mistake in hiring Moorhead. Is there any other business where a manager could cost his employer millions of dollars and still keep his job? Also, does anyone really have confidence in Cohen to hire the next football coach? Aside from the Moorhead hire, there are things like the total cluster-17 of the game day operations at the beginning of this football season that bring into question whether Cohen is up to the job. What says the pack?
