Was the winning combination, credit Pike for recognizing this.

This team is going to need the top 5 to log major minutes in February if there’s a ANY chance to dance.

Mag, Hyatt, Reiber first off.

Sprinkle in Miller, that’s it.

Palmquist shouldn’t see the court unless we have a decent lead. The constants suvs once we either make a run closing the gap or tie it up seems to be our kryptonite.

yes, shorter bench IN THE SECOND HALF was important.... (of course, you cant do that for an entire game)...

plus not, you know... turning the ball over.......

Thats what the thread title says, but yes...also in general. 8 guys. Period. Failure to bring in better players means the vets gotta step up

unfortunately without a deep bench Pike is going to have ride his starters almost 35 minutes a game each
With Mag, Hyatt and Miller you can cut that a few minutes except for Cliff. He’s got to play 35+. But right now he comes out at about the first 4 minute break of each half. Those moments have often killed us.

I like Mag but I felt that he was taking a bunch of shots today when he shouldnt have. Coming off a break where he missed games I think Pike should have had him concentrating on other things

Get them used to the shortened rotation now.
These kids are to young to get worn out.
You properly adjust and monitor practice time to keep them fresh.
With game adrenaline going, you can play heavy minutes

There needs to be a way to get Jones minutes. Everyone played in the first half today.
When we’ve seen him play, he hasn’t played hard on defense. Nothing bothers Pike more than this. Pike’s style is and has always been defense first. Either Jones buys into that or he doesn’t. He has plenty of opportunities to bring it at practice. I doubt he’ll see meaningful minutes in a game until he demonstrates defensive effort in practices. I could be wrong, but that would be my guess on what’s going on.

He played hard in his minutes against Nebby.

Add in no Gonzales agee or Palmquist. Not one minute.
I still am open to jones . But my that tells me he’s on the way out.
Gonzales fouled a guy two feet behind the arc in a tight game, I said to my kids… oh oh, he’s in trouble and sure enough he’s out after the first FT and wearing his t shirt the rest of the game. Pike should have made him put on his sweats and sit behind the bench for that haha

If this was more of the substitution pattern earlier in the season, we would be 13-3 right now and wouldn't have lost to UMASS, Lafayette and Depaul.
