First, love the statistical analysis. The likelihood of getting extra possessions on offensive rebounds live vs. off FTs should be easy enough to pull stats for I would think. I know offensive rebound % is a highly tracked metric these days.

Also, fouling Zion more might just end up giving him more and-1 opportunities given his size, strength, and ability to finish around the rim. RJ is also pretty good at finishing through contact and getting the and-1.

Finally, the scary thing about our FT shooting is not the overall statistical effect, but the inability to close out a close game. We may find ourselves in a game with a 7 point lead and 2 minutes to go and we either need to take the ball out of our best players' hands or send <70% FT shooters to the line to close it out.

Only thing is we have no idea how we will shoot free throws as a team when we're up by 7 in a close game with a lead. Some players struggle the whole game but as soon as it's crunch time, they get the job done and vice versa. If we're up 7 with 2 minutes to go you might as well write the W. Have you seen our defense when they're locked in? I don't see these guys letting up off the intensity in a close game defensively

Our shooting is fine. I'm not worried about ou shooting. Even while not being a good 3 point shooting team or free throw team we still put a lot of points on the board. We have two high level scorers at the moment. Once Cam gets more comfortable and finds his role then we will have 3 high level scorers that can't be stop one on one. And if you zone we will stick RJ in the middle to facilitate or attack. Zion can do the same thing but be more efficient attacking. The way will will lose a game is if the other team is just hitting on all cylinders and we lack intensity. If we play hard for at most 30 minutes of a game then no one will beat us. We have a massive talent advantage on everyone

This is very true. RJ strikes me as the kind of kid who would just will the ball in from the FT line if it came to it. And yes our defense is really good.

Something was noticably wrong with Zion's FT stroke on Saturday. Prior to Saturday, I thought his stroke looked fine at the line, made sense for him to float around the 65% number.

However, I don't know what was going on Saturday, it's like he was pushing the ball forward, aiming at the rim essentially. He wasn't shooting his FT like he normally does. It was definitely a mechanical issue, his stroke looked god awful.
I'm sure the staff will fix it, but it made sense for him to brick every free throw he shot Saturday, he wasn't shooting the ball.
He shoots line drives. The best shot he’s taken this year was the first one against Kentucky. Perfect follow through, held the finish, decent arc, backspin and splash. His form isn’t great but he needs to give himself a few more opportunities by getting some arc on his shots especially from the line. Otherwise there is significantly lower chance of getting the roll.

To your point with that line drive lack of arc, the margin for error is razor thin, which brings confidence into play. The more of those he misses, the more doubt builds up and it will quickly snowball. When you start trying to force the ball in with that type of shot, it’s going to go harder and flatter, which will only make things worse. He needs to see some shots and free throws start going in to start working back towards his normal percentages and normal arc.

And with Cam it seems they’re all online but long.

On line but long is fine. That usually isn't anything mechanical, just some bad luck.
Cam's stroke is great, I love how his ball has a very high arch on it, he's just been cold lately. Once he catches fire, and he will soon, watch out.

Exactly. There’s no mechanical issues with Cam. At some point it’ll get going again and when it does...

I can see him pressing too much right now. He’s undoubtedly #3 behind Zion and RJ. That is a tough thing to accept, something he’s likely never had to experience before. I’m sure he wants to prove that he belongs with the other two and that self pressure is enough to throw off a good shot or force the issue a bit on drives. He needs to let the game come to him. There’s going to be plenty of shots for him in our system. Once a couple go in we’ll forget about this bad stretch.

So he's Green Lantern, behind Superman and Batman....pretty good company. It worked out for the Justice League. Sure he'll be fine.

I don’t believe it to be a bad thing in the slightest. But you don’t know the thoughts of an 18 year old, nor do I. The media does a great job blowing things out of proportion. They have built up Zion and RJ to be gods of college hoops. It’s not an easy role to accept, even leading to a lottery pick and a multi million dollar contract.
