Impossible. Many posters on this board have assured me he sucks. No way a higher profile program could want him.

He's not going to be their defensive coordinator though, so it would appear to be a step down. Unless he's next in line to get promoted to the job when and if Don Brown retires.

Didn't say he'd be calling the defensive plays up there. "On Staff"

This is a little surprising to me. I would have thought his performance here would give him another shot at a DC gig somewhere. But I guess maybe the timing of the firing limited his options.

Meanwhile, I hope they pay him well,

I may be wrong, but I think we still had some contractual obligations to him.

Shoops gone. Let the man live his life and move on.

I didn't realize posting about him on this board prevented him from living his life. Now I know that for the last couple of years, Dan Mullen hasn't been able to live his life due to my hurtful, powerful words.***

Maybe I'm in the minority but I hated to see him go, particularly in the first year of the transition to a new head coach.

I hated to see him go because I'm concerned we are going to end up with someone significantly less qualified. Shoop has been DC at Vandy, Penn State, Tennessee and MSU. That a lot of experience at a lot of different places. He was pretty dang good everywhere except for the Butch Jones mess at TN.

I wish we could have kept him, he was a very good DC. But it appears he did not really want to stay any longer.

I find it hard to believe that he would go take a job as a position coach at Michigan over staying as DC at MSU. I think it was made pretty plain to him that he would not be retained.
