I waited a few days to go over to RR and read what the latest Duke chatter was over there. I'm beyond shocked with them and I thought that was impossible. Numerous posters wishing death to coach K and others at Duke. What's wrong with those people and why do their mods let that go. If someone wished death to coach Cal on here I have no doubt they would be gone. It's pathetic.

There are some really aware, good posters over there. They get ruined by the squadron of idiots living there. Many admit over there we are the better team this year. Some just can't stomach it. Let's go easy on the U.K. Threads over here, they will start drawing flies and that just makes extra work for our mods.
They've generally been cool (the mods) but I was finally banned for questioning their lunacy over Dukes "easy" 2015. I think the overall frustration with K ruling the recruiting trail is finally making them crack....

He came in and righted the ship for the Cats, won a championship while making the Final Four a seemingly reasonable expectation year after year. On top of that he was totally dominating with the OAD's, and Kentucky was the rockstar of college basketball. Going 38-0, and then flaming out while K and Duke won another championship hurt, but they still could embrace their 'Cruitin' Championships'. And then it happened...Duke started stealing their lunch on the 'cruitin' trail, and that's exactly how they perceive it...as stealing. K and Capel couldn't possibly beat the OAD kingpin, 'Cruitin' Cal, straight up without some hanky panky going on. And so the hatred for Duke builds up even more steam. It's not a pretty sight, and may very well get worse.

Wish UK fans would actually get that that is the price Cal paid for being a bit of a trailblazer... he helped normalize it a bit. And a lot of that is from YEARS ago... you don't see a lot of that anymore aimed at Cal.

I disliked Spurrier at Florida, but ultimately respected his coaching. When he came to USC, I liked his cockiness and candor. I had similar experiences with the recent hirings of Frank Martin and Will Muschamp, who I like now after thinking each was a lunatic.
Things can change when you give someone the benefit of the doubt and they are wearing your team colors.
Cal and Roy are fine. I respect both guys, noting that both have bent rules. I will poke fun of both if them, but there is no real hate from me.
Coach K can win with OAD’s and he can win without them. He has proven that. Cal not so much. I’m afraid we are going to have to deal with these ignorant trolls all season long. Wish they would just shut up and go away
Duke's recruiting hasn't really changed near as much as some people think it has. We've always went after top talent.
Exactly....that's what I don't get about everyone saying K has adopted the OAD recruiting. We have had plenty of players that could have been OAD, but players were not leaving early as much then
Absolutely. That’s what makes UK fans look so stupid. We have always recruited top talent it’s just people got wrapped up with how many stars a kid has by his name. All schools got after the best talent they can get, being Duke we get the best of the best just like they do. Their problem is we are doing it better than they are and it’s killing them. Here’s the deal, Cal didn’t invent the one-and-done. That was the NBA. Coach K recruited many players in the early time of the one-and-done but they spurned Duke. He’s always recruited the very best players. Always. Just like Cal and just like Roy. UK fans are mad that K has stole a little of Cal’s thunder, and UNC fans are mad because top players aren’t choosing them.

I'm late to the party (not much else to add), but it looks like my fellow posters are taking care of business (TCB for us Elvis fans).
And that TCB applies to K also. He puts in the work, and does what he does better than anyone before him...to the tune of 1000+ wins, and 5 National titles. You'll never have anyone as good, and neither will anyone else.

Cal didn't start the OAD era. He did take it to a new level, if that's what you mean.
K has had 3 OAD players in a single year on two occasions. Cal has had 3 or more four different times. Since Cal has been at UK, they have 20 OADs. Duke has 10 in the same time period. So there's still a huge difference.
Add to it that rightly or wrongly, Cal has a shady rep. K is pretty much above reproach. Cal also embraced the OAD rule as a strategy; K begrudgingly and belatedly accepted it as the new nature of the game.
I'll be among the first non-UK fans to express respect for Cal and defend his record on and off the court since he has been at UK, but there is more to the different treatment he and K have received than just arbitrary preference.
